Thanks to ASOBO for the prompt reply

I think you summed it up quite well @Kjaye767 a bit harsh to flag this post? Probably more people did complain about the degradation but it doesn’t matter now as we have a hotfix.

It would appear some visual degradation occurred in favour of performance but I don’t think this was intentional for the PC release and we now know some of these issues were genuine bugs.

I’m really happy Asobo are on this and we’ll see these issues improved although I’ve done some user.cfg changes myself and I have to say I’m pretty happy with the results but happy Asobo is also helping out. :+1:

I still refuse to believe that not one of these issues were picked up in either their own testing or by any of the beta testers.

It takes all of 30s of playing this update to discover most of them.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to listen to their beta testers and fix all these issues prior to release rather than release a complete ■■■■ of an update, wait for the community outrage, issue a hot fix, wait to find out what that hot fix breaks or fixes and then release another hot fix?

Do it once. Do it right. These are not obscure and hard to find bugs. If they actually listened to their beta testers they could avoid all the outrage. Unfortunately, from what I hear, they have been ignoring their testers since early alpha. I don’t see it changing.

This game should be much further along than it is since it was released. Over 12 months now? I chuckle everytime I read someone on this forum say “it’s still early. Just be patient and give them time to iron out the bugs”. Or “don’t worry, Sim Update xxx will fix all that.”

They need to work to a much higher standard. Fan boys blowing smoke up their ■■■■■ isn’t going to encourage a higher standard. Unfortunately, mediocrity is becoming the new standard.

This is absolutely true. Personally I opened new threads simply cause I felt the requests to fix could have been obscured by the several posts saying “no downgrade”, “SU5 better than ever” etc. if somebody has a problem (CTD as an example) I don’t open a thread just to say “there are no CTD at all with the update, thanks Asobo” cause then I start a never ending discussion as it happened at the end.

Anyway, as I said what is important also for the future is that we had the confirmation they listen to us and I really appreciate this

Uhmm from a casual playing perspective it doesn’t feel like that to me. I’ve had a solid year of playing MSFS with very few issues in VR and it’s been incredible. Granted airlines are further behind but every update moves airlines forward.

You also have to realise the Xbox release was a huge deal for Microsoft and Asobo and probably there was some time pressures on getting these updates out. I think from the Xbox side Asobo have done an amazing job, but maybe the PC version needed more of a grace period given the number of changes coming into the PC release from the Xbox ‘branch’. Not suprised they missed a few settings when building the PC release but that’s what we’re here for right.

I see absolutely no reason to flag this post by @Kjaye767

On the contrary. Well, maybe I’m just getting old and can’t understand the kids squabbeling over little things :joy:
But seriously: the degree and vehemence really surprised me. Normally forums are a little less volatile than i.e. Facebook. That’s why I quit Facebook to be honest. Too much aggression, idiocy and misinformation. Hope this isn’t the way this forum is going.

As I tried to convey above: it’s entirely possible they knew of many of the problems SU5 would bring but couldn’t help it because they ran out of time. Deadline is deadline. Full stop. MS had planned the XBox launch: you can’t simply go and delay that. And consequently whatever is not ready has to be fixed later. I heard today that they were already working on the first hotfix before SU5 went online.

So ask yourself if you’re not oversimplifing things. Your understanding of how the development of this sim should work may not be compatible with the way the real world works.
And as I said before: it IS a 10-year project. And if you ask me 10 years ago XPlane was far far worse than MSFS is today.

Strange indeed…I cannot see any reason either

I haven’t experienced any issues with SU5, but I don’t go around telling people they’re wrong. I was among the crowd that was dealing with constant CTD back in Feb -Apr, and people constantly told us we were just doing something wrong..yet Asobo eventually fixed it. Just because some people aren’t having problems doesn’t mean other people aren’t.

The most annoying fact were the goons that came out the woodwork trying to discredite legitimate faults… That was bad!

I never complained about whether it degraded. I just had a bunch of freeze ups I never had, attempted a fresh install and now those freeze ups happen at start up and I can’t even install it fresh. Tried a fresh gpu driver update, nothing works. I’m waiting until the next update, I’ve been on since December 2019 issue free until July 27th.

Well said, I share your attitude

Copy pasted here just to get attention from the devs, in amid all the other replies.

Please, please don’t ignore VR players Asobo. Currently we too have problems that are really impacting on immersion in VR (and let’s face it immersion is what we paid so much for with our PCs and VR headsets). Some issues, such as volumetric lighting, have been addressed in your latest announcement, but we have real problems with a seeming lack of AA in VR, as well as water edge reflections that shimmer dreadfully. If these could be easily returned to SU4 conditions that really would be appreciated. :slightly_smiling_face:

They’re not ignoring us VR users, they said prior to the SU5 that VR will be focused after WU6

Yep, I’m aware of that, which is really great. I was just referring to the next hotfix, where hopefully we can get some simple fixes included in it. Especially as I can now fly VR without CTDs, as the Radeon G2 bug has been fixed.

Ah ok I thought you were speaking in general. Yea unfortunately it doesn’t sound like anything from the upcoming hotfix unless they are but not stating it. Otherwise my mind is set on post WU6, this way I won’t be disappointed.
