They really need to lower the scope of the patches and address the most pressing issues in hotfixes. Stop putting 2 pounds of **** in a 5 pound bag. It seems that this team is missing some fundamental software development managerial skills and needs instant improvement.
@janyf You hit the nail on the head! It’s all about “expectations” and that is what people are having trouble with. As was mentioned in the first post in this thread, they should have been honest and called this an Early Access release. That would have set expectations correctly and likely reduced the amount of negative comments being made. I think people would have been more forgiving of the state of the sim. [And for the record, I’ve been in the software development business for over 30 years so I get what is involved, how complex it is, and what they’ve accomplished].
I have been saying this ad nauseam
I wish, they would roll back the sim to 1.7. The weather was great, like water and specially FPS.
Somebody please kick the Juke box, the moaning needle is stuck again on a different track.
Edit: replace ‘track’ with ‘thread’

Yeah, I understood also that they are going to release one patch of bug fixes and one patch of content updates, first one then the other, interspersed(if that is the correct word).
Don’t see why it should be early access and its not full of bugs. I think MS handled things fine. MSFS has always been for the mass market (in other words its not going to be ultra detailed in every feature). Just because the more serious simmers are not able to do everything they want doesn’t make it early access. I bet 90% of all the people who bought it couldn’t care less if the Garmin is missing features or avionics are buggy or the weather is off in some far flung place.
The 10/10 reviews are from casual simmers whose requirements were fully met from this sim. Get in the plane and fly is what they are after.
This early access conversation smacks of elitism
who think if the sim is not ready for them its not ready for anyone else either.
No, the best fix is to not downgrade the game anymore in preparation for Xbox release.
Intelligent post but Wrong! If you watch the dev video with MS and Asobo head honchos you can see these are guys very aware of the bugs and very knowledgeable of what a FLIGHT sim requires, and anxious to fix them. But it WAS early access (for a FLIGHT sim, maybe not a “game”) and should have been sold that way, or delayed the release. FS9, FSX also needed updates but not because Autopilots or ATC didn’t work from the get-go, or planes nose dived unexpectedly. BIG difference between bugs that you plan to fix and major functions not working. That is what differentiates between “finished” and early access, IMHO.
Have fun. I can provide tons of links like that…

Intelligent response but also wrong. Bugs are always going to be there. The idea that if they waited until all bugs were fixed only works if they stop developing the game after release.
Because the next update will break something. Look at how angry people are over the “press any key” intro screen. Any medium bug is enough to cause uproar. As the devs said on the informative chat yesterday they are a lot of variables in a flightsim that makes bugs hard to find especially when you are deploying monthly updates. In Call of Duty or other games there are much fewer things you can do/move, smaller maps etc. so it’s easier to catch bugs.
Heres an interesting thought. I tried to turn off the engine thrust effects on the a320 by updating the aircraft.cfg file but it didn’t work. Turns out there is an aircraft.cfg in the a320 liveries I downloaded on day 5 that seems to be overriding it. A massive number of aircraft params in there. Who knows what else it’s been doing? Things are not going to become easier as we move forward.
Yes, the Press Any Key is the least of our worries.. ![]()
On the money!!
The sim update beginning of November will tell where this project is heading in the foreseeable future.
And I would bet most of those wont be around a year from now playing FS2020.
Correct and I believe (after watching the dev video) that Asobo is very aware of that.
“I sim to have fun, not wade through a pile of disheartening ■■■■■■■■ on the forums ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ each other about how bad the sim is.”
Right - that’s why you come to the forum. ![]()
I am 100% sure he missed the point. ![]()
This is not a simulator “Flight Simulator?” but good looking broken game.
I don’t think “early-access” game was mentionned in the product description.
I have exactly the same problem …
On August 19th, I purchased the Microsoft Fight Simulator 2020 (Premier Edition) and up to this stage, I have survived Microsoft’s various updates, which they gave me no option but to accept. What a stupid delivery system.
My luck ran out on September 29th when they released the Japan update version number v1.9.3.0. The software updated and my version number shows (when in windows mode) version 1.9.3.0 in the top left corner. After that version installed and updated my previous version (which I didn’t want in the first place), when I restarted FS2020, the program now doesn’t load past the phrase "Touch Any Key to Continue”.
It arrives at the first "Touch Any Key to Continue” screen showing a nice picture of Mount Fuji. I touch a key and the screen goes black, but "Touch Any Key to Continue” phrase remains. I touch another key in response, but nothing else happens except I can see the light flash on my SSD as if it’s trying to something. Task Manager shows looping CPU activity, but it is obviously stuck loading. Thank you Microsoft for breaking my FS2020 which you decided to force me to update.
