The Elvis Jet

There’s an update on their Facebook and Discord. I’ll paste the text, but here’s the link so you can also see all the pictures they posted alongside it.

"I hope you all had fun with the Tech Alpha for FS 2024. We STILL have not had ANY dev access and wont get the SDK until the end of the month, however, we want to let you know we’re getting ready to release the JetStar into Early Access in a THIS week!.

OMG Early Access is evil blah blah blah

Yup, we agree, but the realities of development are what they are. Seriously though this is the way it’s going to work.

We will be selling the JetStar at a discounted amount TBD whilst she is in Early Access and it will ONLY be available from our direct website.

We are planning weekly/fortnightly updates until she is finished.

There will be a MASSIVE notice on the sales page to NOT purchase if you do not want an IN DEVELOPMENT product and that we look forward to your purchase on release.

There will be a 2020 and 2024 release and (as soon as we get access to the SDK like all the other devs) we’ll be adding as many native 2024 things to the '24 release as we can.

The 2020 release WILL be cheaper than the 2024 release. We are CONSIDERING an upgrade path but that is still to be determined considering we STILL don’t have access to the SDK!

The flight model and interior are quite mature now (Mach 0.8 @ 40K’ LETS GO!) and we are also coding a full CIVAS INS instrument for the aircraft. During EA it will launch as INOP with functions added through to release.

At release the INS will use GPS system calls under the hood, which will be more than enough to get an idea of how these things worked. BUT if we get enough interest from the community (read: sales) then we will code a complete INS calculation and it will NOT use ANY GPS calls."

Hi, just asking, but is their website Facebook (as I don’t use social media) or is there a separate website? I’m happy to pay for the in development build, but if it’s Facebook, I’ll have to wait for full release. No problem either way, just wanted to know.

Thanks in advance.

They have a website: https://bigradials.com/

However, there is no information yet about the JetStar on their site. I assume they will update the website when they release it for Early Access.

I’m a little surprised at how little people are talking about this one, but I guess I understand. There’s not a whole lot of information about it.

Two things are preventing me from buying it immediately.

  1. 2024 comparability. They say there will be two separate versions, but haven’t answered anyone’s question of if the 2020 version being upgradable to the 2024 version. I’m sure it will be, but it’s unknown if it’ll cost.
  2. Is there GPS navigation. I only see mention of the INS, which uses GPS under the hood. Nothing else is said. Many of these aircraft were upgraded with more modern avionics over time. I want this aircraft because I’m a business jet enthusiast, but I’d want a GTN750 in it. I’m happy to fly old aircraft, but I’m flying them in a modern era.

Agree, GTN750 integration as an option would be great

I’m surprised too about the lack of interest on this forum so far.

Regarding upgrades, I thought MS/Asobo has said pretty much every plane coded for 2020 will work in 2024, they just wouldn’t be able to take advantage of all the 2024 features. So you wouldn’t necessarily have to buy a new version.

Regarding GPS, it’s not listed in the work scope published on their website, but they have done it before (with their Grumman Goose) so it shouldn’t be very difficult to add and it seems to me it would help sales.

I don’t care for business jets at all. Zero interest in it and zero chance of me buying this, especially not as Early Access. I only visited this topic, because of the Elvis Jet RV on Jimmy’s World.

That would be a fun addon to have, considering the new ground detail in FS2024.

The external model looks nice, however, the cockpit shots look very barebones, seems to be missing a bunch of stuff. I’ll wait and see how it develops.

I purchased yesterday. Model looks good, nothing too much to complain about. The cockpit is very sparse compared to the real thing, however it’s a work in progress.
The autopilot is very erratic, pitch hold works, vor navigation seems to work ok. No gps following as yet, or, not found it. Changing pitch doesn’t seem to work and the whole thing is very sensitive.
The ins lights up but not tried as yet .
The whole thing as stated is a work in progress so will wait for the upgrades as they appear.
On a positive note, the cabin is good and you can even go into the toilet.
Here’s hoping it will be good

Big Radials announced in their FB page that GTN750 support is coming soon…

That cockpit doesn’t look very good, not sure if it is because of the textures or the missing things but it looks bad. The geometry of the cockpit in the video I saw also looked weird.
I will wait because it is a work in progress but so far it is not a very nice rendition of such an iconic aircraft.
