The engine shuts down when you exit certain aircraft

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time, but depending on the type of aircraft

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Take the Dr400, start the engine/or start the engine on the runway.

  2. Exit the aircraft

  3. The engine will shut down immediately

Some aircraft shut down their engines when you exit the aircraft.
This is the case for at least the Dr400, the Cap 10, Cessna 152, Beechcraft Bonanza G36, etc.

There doesn’t seem to be a problem with helicopters, turbine aircraft, or multi-engine aircraft, but I haven’t tried all models.

I can’t be 100% sure, but I have the impression that it only affects single-engine propeller aircraft, and not all of them, because the DHC-2, for example, doesn’t have this problem.

I am in su4 and I don’t know if the problem already existed in su3 or earlier versions.

Sounds like a REALISTIC “FEATURE” rather than a Bug. ?

IRL, you would never start the engine, and then exit of the plane, with the engine still running.

——– It’s also a dishonest way to build hours !! ——–

So no, it’s not a realistic feature — it’s a bug.

  • Even if doing this in real life would be reckless or stupid, I can do it.
  • I can also look at the problem from the opposite perspective: if the engine shut down out for certain basic aircraft in the sim, it should happen for all of them, not just a few. So this is clearly a bug.

I reported this bug in this way because the engine should not stop just because I leave the aircraft. If this behavior were implemented globally and automatically for all aircraft, it would prevent certain future aircraft that can be started manually (e.g., Piper J-3 Cub) from functioning properly.

I am in SU4 and cannot reproduce, maybe they’ve made some adjustments in the beta ?

Same with the G36 & CAP10

Are you on su3 or beta su4?
I put it in the general forum because I don’t know if that was the case in su3 since I’m on the beta.
If that’s not the case, I’ll move the topic to the su4 beta forum.

As indicated in my post, I am in SU4. If you have any addons, have you tested disabling them ?
Are you using the default binding (SHIFT+C) to get out of the aircraft ?. Any conflict that could also shut down the aircraft ?

Okay, thank you, I’ll look into that.

Okay, I found it. It’s the default shortcut Ctrl+C (set magnetos) that is confused with the “enter aircraft” shortcut, which for me was Ctrl+Shift+C.
Thank you.
