The most accurate eyepoint

Can someone please tell me which of these views comes closest to what a pilot actually sees during a “normal” cruise flight?
I know our field of vision and the 2D view are completely different from reality.
But the default simulator position feels way too low to me.

Thanks in advance!

In the camera settings, besides options to adjust height, zoom, and horizontal position, we could also use an option to adjust tilt.

It is not a cut and dry answer. Just like sitting in a car really. First, it kinda depends how tall YOU are. Then, what you have in the way of adjustments to your seat. How close you sit to the panel gives a different view “over the hood”. Some seats, can actually adjust up and down and finally, there is always the cushion. Any of those images could be accuarate. Not unlike a car, it is a matter of prefence in real world flying as well.

Also, I think much like height and horrizontal sliders, there should be a vertical slider that lets you set the defaul position forward or back in the seat.

Thank you.

As a rule the default viewpoints in MSFS usually are a bit IFR heavy, meaning the viewpoint is a bit too low to show more of the instrument panel. I like to raise the global viewpoint height to 60 or 65 in the settings. But that is too high sometimes, because each aircraft is different.

Thank you.
Like you, I use 65 height.

I set the viewpoint on the C152 by watching some youtube headcam videos. Since the camera is usually on the forehead or overhead, I lowered the viewpoint a bit in the simulator and now fly like this.

If you open the Camera options from the toolbar, choose the Pilot > Landing view. That tends to sit higher and look down over the nose.

Each plane is a little different.

I try to align my self using the back of the co-pilot seat as reference when looking right and then just up a bit (using ‘Shift + S or W for forward and back and Shift + E or Q for up and down)

Then save as custom view for each aircraft.

Great idea.
Thank you.

2 is closest to real life for me, maybe a shade toward 3. I always try to adjust my seat so I can see a bit of the cowl when sitting normally. But it’s not all about the seat - I’m pretty tall and my legs and knees require the seat to be set just so, otherwise it can be problematic with the controls.

This is great advice - it’s not always about one axis!

Thanks, I use the second to.
