You probably need to resolve any discontinuity in the FMC. Go to Legs, then cycle through with Next Page. Where you see only squares it will say route discontinuity. You can then select the one after the empty squares and insert it to in the empty squares. This will replace it. Sometimes routes that are already in FMC have discontinuities.
This also happen for Vectors, which doesnt have discontinuity warning in the FMC but you can just do the same, replace it with the next one. At the Vectors you should get vectors from the ATC but I have yet to recieve any honestly.
Edit: Dont forget to press Exec on the FMC to save the changes, otherwise it will not effect it.
I’m not sure how well versed you are with FMC otherwise, but lets take it one by one. So you have these soft buttons on the side with little white lines on them, these are corresponding to the rows of the FMC. On the bottom of the FMC, you have the entry line, where you type all the stuff, and where also warnings appear (on your screenshot that line currently says “Key not active”. You can copy entries by pressing the soft button next to the entry you want to copy. This will put the entry in the entry line. Having something in the entry line can be then inserted into a line above by pressing the soft button. So you would now press the soft button next to BURGL, then press the soft button next to the empty squares. This will not actually copy the entry, so you wont have BURGL twice, instead, this will bring up the BURGL one above and the flight plan continues, effectively deleting the empty square entries.
Edit: after that, you can continue to resolve discontinuities, when you see there are no discontinuities, then press Exec, which should be illuminated with the green light above it, when there is an unsaved change. When you make a change, on the top of the FMC the ACT will change to MOD, which is just currosponding to actual and modified. With the Exec, you save that modification and then it returns to ACT. If you don’t save it, the flight plan is not updated until you do.
Here are some good resources to get you started with 737, which also shows somewhat how to handle FMC.
Anytime you see squares, it’s a discontinuity. But what @KiaraLeona said, you can just click the button for the waypoint and click anywhere else prior to that waypoint to basically make a shortcut. This is specifically true when you are given shortcuts by atc on approach. Sometimes you might need to also scroll several pages (my record is 4) to actually overwrite all the waypoints you have the shortcut for
