The Empire Builder and the Hi-Line of Montana
Tonight’s travels take us most of the way across the plains of Montana, following the Hi-Line, formerly of the Great Northern Railroad. We’ll see more abandoned Cold War Relics and talk about the history of the railroad and the surrounding area, along with a geographic surprise. Reminder that we resume our normal time tonight!

The Roads Less Traveled series is a trip down America’s back roads - the US Highways, border to border, coast to coast. Each of these group flights includes virtual tourism and a narrated history of the area through which we fly. In order to get the ”cruisin’ down the highway” perspective, we fly low and follow the roads. We will use real-world weather until we can’t maintain VFR; ATC procedures and airspace are mostly ignored so we can focus on adventure, discovery, and fun, while still doing pilot stuff!
