The Roads Less Traveled: US Highways by Air - US Route 95, Day 2 in Idaho - 1/11/23, 7p PT/10p ET

The Roads Less Traveled
1/11/23 - US-95, Day 2 - Idaho from the Palouse to the Snake River

Tonight we depart the Palouse lands of the Idaho Panhandle and follow US-95 down into the fertile volcanic geography of the Snake River Plain. Along the way we will discuss the area’s history, take in the amazing scenery, and test our aviation mettle with the short-field capabilities of the Kodiak. With dozens of interesting narrative locations, a detour through Hells Canyon, and one other big surprise, this is a flight you don’t want to miss!

7p/10e PM Wednesday (03z Thursday)!

The Roads Less Traveled series is a trip down America’s back roads - the US Highways, border to border, coast to coast with your host, real-world commercial pilot Charlie Foxtrot. Each of strong textthese group flights includes virtual tourism and a narrated history of the area through which we fly. In order to get the ”cruisin’ down the highway” perspective, we fly low and let the road be the guide. We will use real-world weather until we can’t maintain VFR; ATC procedures and airspace are mostly ignored so we can focus on adventure, discovery, and fun, while still doing pilot stuff!

For those interested in real-world scenarios with ATC, full flight planning and execution, I stream those on Friday evenings at 7p/10e.

  • Stream begins: 7p PT/10p ET (03z +1)
  • Start Location: KPUW (Pullman-Moscow)
  • Aircraft: Kodiak 100
