The Problem
Microsoft just launched a great program. After seeing the pre-launch reviews where content creators were trying MSFS 2024 in VR, I got incredibly excited! For the first time I have purchased a VR headset. I did all kinds of research on what a good starting point in my VR journey would be. All signs pointed to the HP Reverb G2. Only after purchase did I see that my new [to me] headset would be a brick shortly because of (checks notes) MICROSOFT?! The same guys that gave me a reason to get into VR are depreciating the framework that makes my headset work at all? I can’t be the only person upset here.
The Wish
I wish for something, anything at all within your power, to be done about this. I would even be happy if there was a magical way for the G2 (and other WMR headsets) to work in this one title. After spending hundreds of dollars on a game and a headset, just for said game, the feeling I have is terrible. My knowledge of the coding, the company structure, and why this is happening at all are quite limited. I know that this may not even be the best place to air my grievance. All I know is that when this community comes to you with a problem, you listen and do what you can to make it right. I hope there is a fix to this ticking clock of how long I get to enjoy the G2 in MFSF24.
The Compromise
If nothing else, I would love an explanation the next time there is a live stream. Why can or can’t you do anything? What are the options for WMR headset owners going forward? What VR platforms are getting the most attention in future development?
