Uggggh! Not a fan of fictional skins being added to any payware, honestly.
The more that I fly this bird, the more that I like the way that it flies. The problems that I was having earlier with the aggressive response to small throttle inputs have largely gone away now that I know how it will respond to a certain throttle setting. I am by no means proficient but last night I was able to keep pace alongside a moving ship and I found that I could maintain my forward speed just by gently rocking back and forth to balance the forward thrust and drag. I didnât have to adjust the throttle setting or the nacelle angles and it became very stable.
My hat is off to the developers on this one because there is more to it than you may first realize and, like its real world counterpart, it is an extremely versatile machine. Just a blast to mess around with!
Good to hear you are slowly mastering this machine. Itâs pretty complex when you can control the forward motion both by the nacelle angle and the forward tilt. Iâve also found it easier to control at slow speed simply by flying it as a helicopter rather than adjusting the nacelles.
Yes exactly. It does seem to feel as if it has a helicopter type rotor head. I am not sure if that is accurate or just the way it has to be modeled in the sim but it certainly helps with the control.
Hey guys - just a quick update: Will be pushing out Osprey v1.2 in a couple of days.
It was decided to postpone Nav and Flight Planning through CDU to v1.2.1 due to some major bugs that still need to be sorted out. Essentially, when a flightplan is active on the CDU, VOR/TACAN malfunctions. It was decided that at this state the flightplanning requires some more work (itâs a very complex system), and hence that has been delayed slightly while we continue working on it. This is the last bug preventing us from releasing this feature, and we are expecting to push it out shortly.
There is, unfortunately, no easy way around with the Osprey, as the CDU combines a bunch of unique systems that all need to be custom-coded, we cannot simply throw a Garmin or 747 FMC in there. Fortunately, systems on our future aircraft products in development are less complex, and will benefit from the already built-in avionics in MSFS.
Regarding the Livery Pack, the final list of liveries is as follows:
- US Navy VRM-30 Titans
- US Marines VMM-364 Purple Foxes
- USAF SOS-7
- US Navy Red Dragons VMM-268
- US Navy VMM 163 Ridge Runners
- US Navy HX-21 Blackjack
- Prototype Test Livery
- Spanish Armada (Fictional)
- Royal Navy (Fictional)
- Royal Canadian Air Force (Fictional)
- Australian Navy (Fictional)
- US Coast Guard (Fictional)
- Royal Air Force Search and Rescue (Fictional)
- Italian Navy (Fictional)
It was decided to go half fictional-half real operators. Mainly due to interest in the aircraft from international simmers and the lack of real-life international operators.
I completely blame the developers for pulling me into âcold/darkâ flight simming. This aircraftâs user interface, with large buttons and well labeled instruments made it pretty easy to find the things you need to find to get the APU running and then start the engines. Itâs sort of a gateway drug to the King Air and HondaJet (though, the Honda is kinda simple to start from cold).
I donât fly this bird as much as I used to, but am looking forward to flying COD out of North Island.
Yes indeed. The COD variant is really going to pull in some modern real-world missions!
I can only imagine how much fun this would be if we could drop cargo or sling load cargo. Logistics would be a blast.
Iâm glad youâre not giving up and youâre still developing a proper flight plan interface, a Garmin unit would be immersion breaking and we already have the GNS 750 as a workaround.
Thank you for the updates, please keep them coming.
Speaking of, I thought I saw it mentioned somewhere that there will be a CV-22 variant instead of just a livery? I actually tried to find out what the visual differences are on the CV-22 and I couldnât find a good source, does someone here know?

This is why Iove the Osprey. Most advanced MSFS aircraft are âhardâ because there are many systems and buttons to press, but the aircraft itself is really easy to fly.
The Osprey will kill you if you donât fly it right, the actual flying during transitions and hover is hard. That makes learning to control it so much more rewarding.
The CV-22B is U.S. Air Force variant for the U.S. Special Operations Command. It conducts long-range special operations missions. It has three subvariants, Block 0, 10 and 20, that varies a bit but basically it has extra wing fuel tanks, an AN/APQ-186 terrain-following radar (a very noticeable bulge on the nose) and extra defensive equipment such as the AN/ALQ-211 radar counter measures and AN/AAQ-24 Nemesis Directional Infrared Counter Measures. It also has extra comm radios and fittings for internal long range tanks and extra armour for the cabin floor. Because of this special equipment the CV-22B has a lot of extra bulges and antennas as opposed to the MV-22B.
Thank you for the livery pack and Osprey Update!
When it comes to fictional OperatorsâŠ
Please add in the next livery pack the colorful Israeli variantsâŠthat would be awesome.
When it comes to fictional liveries, I go back and forth between âfake liveries are not SIMULATION, and should be forbidden!!!â and âI want more of these so I can create a full Scooby Doo airforceââŠ
I wholly support the decision to release fictional liveries. The V-22 is an awesome machine that has not had the benefit of many cool paints in real life.
I only fly one livery, deleted the rest
@LikedHare478430 is there a functional limitation that prevents opening the cockpit door to be able to look out the rear of the aircraft, similar to whatâs available on the Pelican?
RIght, itâs Simulation! Simulation covers both what is currently possible, and, what might be possible.
LuftScooby is very possible, I think. Just sayinâ.
Those darn kids!!!
Exactly! Sometimes fictional liveries happen in the real world as well and few can argue that they donât look really cool!
Does anyone know when this update is coming out?
I CAN NOT wait.
I love the Osprey. I donât fly helicopters, so this is a good way for me to really have a good look around all the airports I have bought.
Itâs like a new Simulator for me
