I have a question:
I would like to install from my content manager planes like A330-900 Neo and/or A340-300 Neo, Darkstar, A380-800 (Bredock3D) adding them to the already installed DC Designs Concorde, Captain Sim Boeing 777-200LR, SF50 Cirrus Vision Jet GT, but…
There are my… let’s say fearings:
The already installed are less than 1 gb of space and performances on my Xbox Series X are for now fine, would be fine if i install the ones i listed above with more than 1gb of space and add them to the ones i installed with less than 1 gb space?
If i want to add, example A330 or A340 or both, will i be forved to uninstall the other already installed? Sould i uninstall Captain Sim Boeing 777-200LR or DC Designs Concorde or Cirrus Vision Jet GT? Or has the last update improved performance allowing me to finally putt toghether everything and use all of them without bump in a CTD or stutter or a freeze or whatever else performance issue could appear?
Thanks for answering me and nice summer to you all!
Updated:
Before you might misunderstand, the gb of space i am referring to are the space required by each of those add ons i am speaking about, not the space remaining in my console.
I don’t understand the question
What is 1gb space? Is that your current free disk space on the Xbox? If yes, that is way too little free space.
Those planes are usually way more than 1gb storage each with liveries etc.
What are you trying to do?
No, no, the 1gb is referred to the space the add ons require on hard disk, not the space remaining.
Example the A330-900 Neo of LVFR requires about 7 gb or space on hard disk
Is the space they occupy, not the remaining space on my hard disk or the console
You can install as many as you like at the same time as long as you have enough storage free. It will only load the one you’re flying at a time so no problem.
All it might do is very slightly increase loading time to the main menu.
Your fear basically summarizes why MSFS 2024 will be a thin client with way more data being streamed from the cloud - on Xbox you will easily run out of space as there is no way to split the installed stuff through different SSDs.
To get enough space you will have to (at least temporarily) uninstall other addons if you run out of space. Maybe, if you downloaded world updates, reconsider if you need them all or if you anyway just fly in the same areas (so if you installed the Japan WU1 you could remove it if you close to never fly there).
Aircraft on your hard drive wont cause CTDs or drop in performance. Im on xbox series x and it has 1TB of storage. I have many many aircraft installed some even take up 6+ Gb of storage space such as Azurepoly C160 and CJS R-FAL.
The issue that causes performance loss is RAM not storage space. This is eaten up by the aircraft you are flying at the time (not those in your hangar) and any scenery (airports, ground improvements) any environmental add ons ( weather preset programs, night lighting, runway textures) all these eat away your limited RAM which causes stuttering, texture loss, CTD( only when very limited RAM remains).
So you can install all your aircraft and not suffer any ill effects as you can only fly 1 at a time.
YMMV as it sounds like you’ve had issues before, but I usually have 100+ third party aircraft (most over 1GB each) installed at the same time and haven’t had a CTD in years.
