This app can't open - after SU7 update

Brief description of the issue:
After the update to SU7, I now need to go through an Xbox app, which I never had to before, and I try and open the sim, I get a pop up “This app can’t open” message with a link to the store. Go to the MS Store link and if I hit the play button (which is grayed out), I get the same error message. If I hit Reinstall, it pops me into the Xbox app. If I hit play, I get the same “This app can’t open” error and it is just a continuous loop.

I own the Premium Deluxe Version and when in the store, I can scroll down and it instructs me to “install from the Xbox app”. When I click on that, it takes me there, says I own the game, I click on play, and back to the “This app can’t open” message.


Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered:
Above. I went through all of the troubleshooting steps listed on Zendesk, did not work. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, did not work. I also opened a support ticket with Zendesk as well, but have not heard anything yet, though it was only 9-10 hours ago.

Same here after the update … CPU Ryzen 5600X, RTX 3070, Ram 3600 Mhz, … not a hardware problem at all

Same problem here, hope someone know how to fix this.

Since the latest update my sim won’t run. Updated Microsoft store app and game. Now won’t run at all. Get message says this ap can’t run refer to store for more info. Store all update. Anyone else have this issue. How have you fixed it. Thank you.

Seems like only a few are having this problem. I do not get that xBox stuff, it just comes up like before.

Exact same issue, followed all the steps, removed all programs relating to MSFS like simconnect.

Had the same issue updating to SU6. Reset all my store etc followed tutorials online for APPS not working, cannot get the thing to load up.

Left it running over night to do a clean install, still same issue this morning :frowning:

Updated yesterday. Opened sim this morning and found I cant rotate world. Looks small potatoes compared to others issues, but just wanted to chime in here. Anybody know if a patch is forthcoming?

I’m having the same issues, after I updated the sim, whenever I try to start it a message pops up telling me to run Microsoft Store independency package installer, I click yes and I get the same message shown in this issue.

**P.S. I updated my Windows 10 to the latest version, updated my Microsoft Store, uninstalled the sim and reinstalled again but still I have this infinite loop.

I’m having the same issue (msfs premium deluxe). The game crashed while updating to SU7. The app won’t open, says I have to check the windows Store, but everything is up to date. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but the issue is still there :frowning:

I am having the same issues, it appears after downloading “fs-base-0.1.206.fspatch.001” in the update

I also had that issue, this is what they said.

Turn off real-time protection. You’ll find detailed instructions in this article [Microsoft Store - Download and Installation issues - Basic Troubleshooting as well as other potential solutions for this issue.

Turning off my anti virus and VPN worked for me.

Same with me. Would not start after the su7 install.
Uninstalled and reinstalled- still the same.

Any ideas?

After being on a support call again with Microsoft/Xbox, the ultimate result is having to reinstall/reset the OS from an ISO image. Still do not have any idea if that will solve the issue. Currently working on that, then I need to download the game, again, which takes several hours.

EDIT- resetting Windows 10 worked to get me to the point that I could actually download again, but I am only 40% of the way downloading the update after 4-1/2 hours. There has to be better way. This is the 3rd time I have tried to install this update and it takes 8-10 hours to download.

Here is where I was instructed to go and to download the tool and run it, then saved the ISO image to my desktop and ran it. Windows 10 Tool

EDIT - after I am not sure how many hours, not sure since I went to bed at midnight and it had been 9 hours and I was still at 90% downloading, I was pleased to wake up this morning and find it working. Of course, I now need to download all of the add ons I had before, so looking forward to several more hours of downloading -smh.

Unfortunately, those did not work for me. They were tried from the start.

Also not working for me, getting frustrated because every update is like the same. It take more hours troubleshooting then having fun playing this game.

PC User… Problem solved… The problem with mine was drive space. Freed up some space, re-run the sim, it checked for updates and started downloading the last 3GiB of the new Su7. The sim now up and running. The Su7 upgrade is 33GiB I had 39GiB of free space but apparently this wasn’t enough. Hope this helps others with same issue. I now need to invest in a bigger SSD drive I have 500gib with Windows 10 and flightsim on same drive but now not big enough. to fit any future updates. Man this game is going to be huge…

MSFS SU7 FIXED! - after being frustrated for 3 days in a row , contacted Microsoft Support they offered all they can but they couldn’t fix the problem

here is what I did to fix this issue: 1- updated the windows to the latest version
2- updated Microsoft Store
3- I clicked on get updates in Microsoft Store and got all the updates
done.
4- I uninstalled the sim and reinstalled again using Microsoft Store
but here is the tricky part, as an owner of the premium deluxe
edition, Microsoft Store didn’t recognize the game on my pc even
though Xbox app did but Microsoft Store didn’t and kept showing
reinstall button, so go to Microsoft Store and choose your highest
version or edition of the game and download it via Xbox.

PS: I turned off my anti-virus as well as windows defender during the installation of the game
