I don’t know how else to describe this new feature. I can’t even hardly reach and control various panel controls, such as cold-starting my Cessna 152, use nav radios, other instruments. Ever since the latest sim update started highlighting the various cockpit controls when my mouse hovers over them.
Is there any way to turn this feature off? Please tell me there is a way…
You been able to turn off this feature since the introduction of this Lock settings. You can turn them off in the accessibility menu I believe. There is option that allows you to switch from “LOCK” to “Legacy”. Just change that setting and your back without those blue highlights assists.
I’m supposing that I’m in the minority here, but sometimes, depending on the plane I’m in, those blue highlights help me accurately figure out what exactly I’m clicking on or turning…I fought the idea for a long while because of that blue tint, but the new system does allow some functionality that wasn’t present in legacy. (such as panning the MFD in the charts page in the CJ4, or panning the map in G1000 equipped planes). I will say, I turned off the giant tooltips, that helped a lot.
Unfortunately, despite what Asobo said when they changed this, it does not fully implement the original, “legacy” system, as it no longer gives the setting on the controls, for example.
This was one of the “upgrades” they gave us in the XBox version, which to me demonstrated how out of touch they are with the users. Vote here if you would like the proper one back:
I much prefer it rather than playing ‘hunt the pixel’. Plus the fact that when clicked you are locked on it whereas in a turn or bumpy conditions your mouse would drift off the clickspot. Used to drive me mad in FSX this SIM too. But the new tooltip. Nah, don’t even show the value of the input/control.
Many thanks everyone! I was hoping there was a setting, but just couldn’t find it! After so many years in earlier flight Sims, I don’t want this big, bold, blue highlight popping up, getting in my way. And I know just what you mean about the mouse getting bumped around and knocked off the controls. That’s also annoying, but just what I’m used to. As you say, to each his own. Thanks again!
