Three Flat or Three Curved Monitors?

Looking for an opinion.

I purchased a new AMD based PC with 9800X3D CPU and 9700xtx GPU. Plenty of power I believe. I have 2 old 1080p monitors that I want to replace with either 3 flat or 3 curved 1440p monitors. I can get decent versions of each for under $200 each. So, curved or flat? Pros and Cons. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

It will make effectively no difference; you’ll get used to either way within a day or two and never notice again. :smiley:

I personally used curved, it allows me to get more realistic peripherals, and it feels more like you’re there. Both options are great, but I believe that curved monitors are more optimal. @jwilli999

Thanks for the feedback. Pending further feedback, I am inclined to go with the curved monitor solution.

Or you could get one big one like a 55" Qled/Oled that supports HDR/VRR and will most likely be much better.

Whichever way you go don’t get too cheap as you’re spending good money to get a high end PC to enable a more immersive experience.

With 3 flat screens you’ll easily be able to get in and out of the cockpit so you’ll be safe.

I’ve done some mathematical calculations on your behalf and the name given to 3 curved screens is called a “circle”.

Although you will have an immense 360 experience I’m afraid you’ll never be able to get out.

Three curved screens will not create a full circle. Curved screens are usually bent by I’d say 10-15 degrees. This will not trap you in whatsoever. I actually think that the curvature is less (than 10-15) but provides a more immersive experience anyways. I use a curved monitor, and I see no downsides to it.

I will say that I used a (single) curved monitor as my daily driver for several months and when I replaced it with a flat monitor afterwards it just looked ‘wrong’ to me for weeks because my eyes had adapted to a flat plane being projected across a curve.

I wouldn’t want to do that again.

I went with 3 curved monitors (AOC CQ32G4VE) and they look great. I had a 32 with two 24’s on each side. It was a nightmare to try and align. 3 equal monitors
 a breeze. Lateral Rotation -90/+90 and done. Amazing. Feels so real.
