Thrustmaster Hotas not recognized in MSFS

Hooked up my new Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotus to my XBOX One. XBOX recognizes it as I can navigate the system. When I select Flight Simulator (Cloud), I am prompted ‘xxxxxxx, you need a controller for this game.’

Press A to Confirm

There are no controllers to select.

I can keep pressing A and nothing (it beeps), when I press B, I get to the point where it says to press any button to start. No response to any button pressed. I can turn on my original xbox controller and it works, but not the Thrustmaster throttle.

Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Hello @FLWorld5,

Currently, only Xbox controllers can be used with Xbox Cloud Gaming. Mouse and keyboard support for Cloud is currently under development (although we don’t have a release date to share at this time), and we’ve heard from the community that support for other peripherals, including flight sim devices like the T.Flight HOTAS One, is a highly-requested feature.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

I saw the reply above but was going to suggest checking the switch on the bottom is set to Xbox and not PC.

Looks like you’ll have to wait then if you’re using it via XCloud on XB One. But if you have other games to test it out it should work fine like Ace Combat.

Thanks, really appreciate it. Would other controllers work if I bought the digital version of the game?

The Thurstmaster Hotas will work if you buy and install the digital version on Xbox Series S or X.

I just bought one last week and it works fine on the Installed Gamepass version of the game.

The HOTAS T.Flight One is supported by Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X|S. It will not work if you are playing on an Xbox One via Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Sooo 6months later is there an update for this?

So why even have it on Cloud gaming? Who wants to play a flight simulator with a gamepad? That’s so stupid. Scummy way of getting people to buy the game pass ■■■■ thinking they’ll be able to use their HOTAS… it’s also been more than long enough for other input devices to be added.

Cloud gaming is good for People with last gen systems like Xbox One or those who want to play it remotely on their PC or Ipad/mobile phone.

Not everyone is a hardcore flight simulator gamer. The majority of people on Xbox are more casual flight sim gamers who want to view the sights around the globe and use different planes. They don’t care about the X’s and O’s and the majority are comfortable using the controller.

I have a Hotas and for me it’s been a waste. I feel more comfortable playing on the couch on the 75 incher with the controller after a long day’s work than setting up the hotas on my desk, on my small monitor, etc…
