I received the TCA quadrant and addons yesterday and have used the setup for a few hours. Everything calibrated fairly easily, but the autobrake keeps turning itself off. The detents seem to be fairly light especially to the CLIMB phase even at the tightest setting. Honestly, I think this piece of hardware is great for the everyday Joe that needs his fix of simming. For the $180 I paid I’m happy…for now.
For that price point, and what you get, its not perfect but its still great imo. I originally was looking into the ThrottleTek Minibox, but it’s $800 shipped, minus taxes! After scouring the Interwebs for what seems to be hours on end, I cant find any quadrant setup in between those 2 price points that may be a step up from the TCA other than the Bravo. Anybody in the same predicament I am? haha
Isn’t the autobrake supposed to turn off after take off? You then have to switch off manually on the TCA. the detents work better if you attach the bar (screwdriver) through the throttle handles and tighten the handles.
They do automatically turn off after departure. On arrival, if I use the switch on the TCA, it stays lit for 10-15 seconds then goes off. If I use the switch in the cockpit, it stays on.
I have found the following to be the best autobrake setting, given that it’s a rotary control rather than a set of buttons, which would be ideal for the A320.
DISARM - electrically not connected - leave unbound
BTV - unbound
LO - bound to autobrake low
2 - bound to autobrake medium
3 - unbound
HI - bound to autobrake max
Then you can set the autobrake to low, medium and max as desired by moving the rotary to the appropriate position AND then moving it to the nearest unbound position (BTV or 3). The autobrake setting will be remembered by the aircraft, and when you hit the brake pedals the autobrake will be switched off, as it should. If you leave the switch in any of the low, medium or max positions it will force the autobrake on, even after you use manual braking.
Nah, I have the same issue myself. If I arm the autobrake too early (like during descent/approach), often times just before landing it would have been off at some point. I’m also using FS2Crew and the F/O does have few controls in the aircraft. I’m not even sure if it’s the FBW A32NX, or FS2Crew or the hardware or MSFS control binding that’s causing the problem.
But I got used to having a workaround with it. Basically, on take off I leave my autobrake off because my F/O from FS2Crew will arm the MAX Autobrake by themselves, keeping it on until the landing gear is retracted and it will turn off automatically. On approach however, I usually keep my autobrake off until I command my F/O to deploy the landing gear. So once the landing gear is down, I use the quadrant addon dial to set autobrake 1-3 for Low/Medium. Then I call for landing checklist. At that point, the autobrake will keep being armed until touchdown and I press the manual brake.
After some trial and error, I believe its a bug between the FBW A32NX and the TCA. If I arm the autobrake (RTO, LO, or MED) it will arm with the TCA switch but will disarm itself if I pan around the flight deck with the mouse then come back on if I pan back to certain areas. So as for now it looks like I’ll be using the mouse to arm the autobrakes
See this on the A32nx discord -TCA Throttle Autobrake Disengages While Looking Around.- This is a known issue. There is a suggestion to not pan around for longer that 1.5 seconds using the mouse.

A question about the autobrake dial. Is there a way to map this dial to ND Range (Map zoom) dial present in the Airbuses? I find that the TCA dial has exactly 6 settings as the ND Range has in Airbus variants. I would find this mapping more useful for the dial, compared to autobrake.
Anybody successful using the TCA Airbus Stick & Quadrant on XBox? For me the stick seems to work but the Quadrant is not detected at all (XBox X)
I also only see the stick, but the quadrant is recognized, so the Xbox sees the stick and the quadrant as 1 controller I think (at least for me).

OK, need to double check. In that case I’d expect to see both the stick and the Quadrant in the picture or in the list.
In FS2020 it was much better and much more obvious.
I still think that now after so many years they could detect the most popular controllers right away and even have dedicated profiles for those.
