I’ve started a seperate thread just for the detent 3d prints
Been a while since I read this thread, but just to let everyone know that creating a custom curve in JoystickGremlin has made a huge difference to feeling. Even though I don’t have the nice-to-have linear 0-100% range of the throttle quadrant, I can still use the detents and they hit exactly where I want them, combined with perfect linear movement between IDLE and CL.
Could you post your setting for this?
Anyone already installed the v1.61 firmware? I notice after the update that the idle setting has moved up from 19 to 21%…
Lol. As if we needed any less travel between idle and climb.
Not by my simulator right now. I will attach them here later.
Any other changes in 1.61? Any more added virtual buttons or anything (i.e. Norm mode)? Thrustmaster’s release notes are worthless.
I honestly don’t know. Could not find any relevant info… I only noticed the throttle is much more sensitive at idle… Only way I can get them to idle is to keep force on the throttle when idle. When releasing force N1 is approx 21/22%.
Also some new sensitivity settings are needed. CLB is no 87,8% in my case and MCT is now off (2nd detent still gives TOGA now).
Normal/Mode is not working, Asobo has to program that part in.
I am aware of that. The question was related to the new Thrustmaster firmware. If it added more virtual buttons, like for the norm position, then we could map the virtual button to the norm mode in MSFS.
Ah, I see. Thrustmaster didn’t add a virtual button. That would solve the issue if they could.
After Firmware 1.60 my TCA Quadrant lost it’s virtual buttons. They’re still absent with 1.61.
Apart from that, the Quadrant works in a reasonable way, except for the range between idle and clb.
Here’s my new configuration after the firmware update to 1.61. All the detents line up better than before. And the engine master switch is working as it should.
Is this with using the Flybywire Stable Build or just the “vanilla” Asobo A320neo?
Asobo or Thrustmaster need to introduce a patch for this, half of the buttons don’t work
Using fbw developer mod and now the engine works for me at last.
Is it normal that the switch from idle to climb is so sensitive? It Fits with the different modes but i think at the beginning from idle to climb it goes too fast.
Unfortunately, that is the case because of the ridiculously sharp sensitivity curve that Asobo changed to in Patch 5. They didn’t fix it in patch 6. (it was working fine in patch 4 with a decent response curve between idle and climb, and the detents all matched up too). I am hoping they fix it sooner rather than later, but it has made the use of the TCA quadrant pretty annoying in MSFS and a big reason why I’m not using MSFS for now.
It shouldn’t be that hard to fix, but I imagine that they just don’t have time to deal with it because of the huge number of other bugs they have to fix.
As I said in my previous post above, This is because the physical hardware has the same range between detents. From REV, IDLE, CL, MCT, and TOGA modes, they’re all equally around 25% thrust range between them.
But the thrust lever in the sim (or probably IRL too), the range between detents are all different:
-20% - 0% (20% range of Reverse thrust)
0% - 85% (85% range of forward AUTO Thrust zone)
85% - 90% (5% range of CL zone)
90% - 100% (10% range of MCT zone)
100% (TOGA zone)
So the Sim needs to capture a different sensitivity for each detents. Especially in the IDLE to CL area, where the physical quadrant that only has 25% thrust range, needs to cover 85% of the thrust range in the sim, Then the next part of the detents from CL to MCT also has to travel 25% in the physical quadrant but only need to cover 5% of the thrust range in the cockpit. So you can see how the sensitivity needs to jump so high at the start then it has to quickly drops, to interpret the thrust properly.
I use the Airbus joystick and my old basic throttle until they have a fix for it
A fix for what?
