Hi all,
I’ve just ordered the Thrustmaster TPR pedals and will be using them primarily with the PMDG 737 in MSFS 2024. Before I get everything mounted, I’m looking for any setup tips from experienced users.
Main things I’m curious about:
-
Recommended settings — Sensitivity, deadzones, or curves that work well for airliners
-
Installation advice — Best mounting/spacing or spring‑tension adjustments
-
Software or drivers — Will MSFS detect them automatically, or should I install Thrustmaster software
-
Calibration — Whether to calibrate in Windows, Thrustmaster software, or only in‑sim
Any tips to get the most out of these pedals—especially for taxiing and crosswind work in the 737—would be greatly appreciated.
install Thrustmaster software
Calibrate in Thrustmaster software
Sensitivity, deadzones, or curves: no need to change in my opinion
mounting/spacing or spring‑tension: It depends on your preferences. I personally like having smooth and ample control for perfect precision with helicopters… but it also works for airplanes.
Plan a way to secure the TPR to the floor, as otherwise it can move slightly due to leg force. Either screw it to the floor or wedge it against a wall. A non-slip mat is not sufficient.
Great choice BTW. You’ll love them.
Contrary to the previous posts do yourself a favour and do not install any Thrustmaster software. It’s not needed and can cause issues. These are totally plug and play straight out of the box.
There have been several issues with pedals from users that have done that. Just Plug them in. Check they work and calibrate in the default windows game controller utility and then just configure them in the sim for the rudder and toe brake axis. Never had a single issue with mine in 2020 or 2024 when setup like this. I like flat linear responses but YMMV.
Thanks to all who replied.
I got my Thrustmaster TPR pedals set up, used default spring and pedal placement and ended up skipping the Thrustmaster drivers/software — everything is working perfectly out of the box.
These things are on a completely different level compared to my ancient CH pedals and the twist‑rudder sticks I’ve used over the years since. The precision is incredible, and I’m feeling the burn in my legs now that I’m actually using proper pedals. It’s a whole new flying experience, and I’m really impressed so far.
Thanks again for the help!
I said you’d love them. Happy flying.
