Thrustmaster tpr

Hello all, has anyone installed a damper piston on their pendular rudder pedals?
If so did you buy a kit or just the piston and rig it yourself?
I’ve done a lot of research and I can’t find much information.
Cubesim has a kit but it looks dubious and seems to ship from China.
Any info tips or photos would be appreciated!
Happy flying :small_airplane:

Thanks for the link! That’s the one from cubesim but i have seen others. I just can’t find them again😖

I did this about 6 months ago. Totally worth it and easy to install. It really made it more realistic. I used the cube sim product They have a veideo on YouTube. CUBESIM Thrustmaster TPR Rudder Damper Install - YouTube

Thanks for the post!
Where did the kit ship from and how long did it take?
After a lot of searching I finally found this

Amazing Thrustmaster Pendular Rudder Hydro Damper mod for Helicopter , on youtube, by Blacksharkden.

A bit of a “ do-it-yourselfer” but I think this is what I am going to try.
Cheers.

Bought it from aliexpress last year. Ordered it on 10/21 and had it in hand on 11/7. It’s not hard at all to install. Just watch the YouTube video

Thanks Rompy, one last question, what do you prefer to fly, helis, GA, or airliners?
For me , helicopters hold my fascinating.

I’ll bet there are only one or two companies that make those things. I have the exact same looking damper on my MFG Crosswind v3. They make a big difference to how they feel, much smoother.

I fly 50/50 helicopters and GA. Pedals are great for both. My next purchase is some Virpil products

I just received and installed the kit.

Absolutely worth it. It is well made and wasn’t difficult to install. Don’t be put off by “Made in China” — the TPR are made there, too.

The pedals and their action feel so much better!

It was even packaged in a nice plastic box:

curious to hear what people think about the TPR pedals and Heli’s… they seem to be a very good fit.

I love mine, but also added a damper and removed the springs. Can actually take your feet off for a rest without adverse reactions.
Also have Virpil cm3 base 200 mm extension and Virpil constellation alpha prime as a cyclic, works great. Now looking at virpil collectives.

I’ve just done the cubesim damper mod to my TPR.

It works great but I’ve noticed the damper is not quite centred which means the left pedal stops about 1 cm short of its rubber stopper.

In MSFS that’s about 9% short of its max travel.

Can you reposition the damper bracket that clamps to the silver pivot of the TPR to center the damper’s body on its rod?

No, it wouldn’t move any further.

I cut away some of the material that fits in the silver pivot so I could move the bracket a little more. It’s OK now, the damper is centred and the pedal reaches the rubber stopper.

I connected mine to the end pivot of the horizontal arm.
The other end I used a 1/2 inch shower door bracket from Amazon.

Looks good, if the damper is centred, then you should be able to get the full travel on both pedals.

Good thing about the cubesim kit is you don’t have to drill any holes in the pedals.

How many clicks did you set your damper to ?

Yeah, I was reluctant to do any drilling but the warranty was over and it was two small holes in the base.
I think I am only at one or two click, with the springs removed. Because it’s on a carpet I also grounded the pedals to eliminate any static charge.

I was thinking more about the re-sale value. I’ve owned mine over three years and was thinking of selling them and getting some that already come with a damper.

But the TPR design where the pedals stay the same distance apart along their full travel is superior to the others. Adding a damper makes them better than any other pedal set.

I am in the middle of completely redoing my sim “rig” and noticed something.

You could have loosened this pinch bolt and moved the damper body such that the damper’s piston(rod) was centered and then retightened the clamp.
