You stated that live weather would scare away XBox users and casual PC users, so this will never be fixed, and will be like this even in FS2024. That implies that it was broken because casuals and XBox users wouldnāt like working real weather including lightning. Otherwise, why would the new version come out the gate without lightning.
Ok then take out this part āx-box and pcā which I admit is redundant and confusing. Anyway doesnāt matter what I say they arenāt gonna fix it lol.

Never seen them in NA. Mostly in the southern Europe or in SE Asia.
I fly primarily in the US and Caribbean and havenāt seen lightning in the sim in years. When it was visible years ago, it was too bright and would almost give you a seizer, you couldnāt even look at the screen when it went off. Now thereās just no lightning at all ever. I would think they could strike a balance and turn it back onā¦

Never seen lightning, thunderstorms since SU5-SU7ā¦
I tried a lot of diferrent locations with https://www.lightningmaps.org and badbadweather.com yesterday and today, there is nothing.
The live weather, clouds, thunderstorm are a disaster on MSFS20 (4 years of development for that ?really ??) and even with the last update of the year, Asobo/Microsoft didnāt care to fix it.
We lost a lot of things because of xboxā¦ and for the real world metar depictionā¦
I give up and expect nothing in the future, even with MSFS24 I have strong doubts

They were there yesterday at KCOS. It surprised me when I was sitting on the ramp, and heard the boomers. Then looked up and saw the flash.
I also went hunting. yep. there was lightening and thunder here. Which leads me to believe the Meteo blue data is sending it, but I dont think Metars are. just hunt and peck, and youāll see the lightening show up in the weather pic. So yeah, it works. just look. not all rain makes lightening. pffft, I know that as its been raining all week here out my window, and no lightening. So its broken. LOL

I looked for 4-5hours around the world, yesterday and today. Iām very unlucky or itās a bug for some users or itās very very rareā¦ Iām not idiot, there is no option to activate to see them ?
Iāll try hunting them again laterā¦

I have no hopes for thunderstorms, asobo just wiped it off the planet and itās a rarer sight than aurora borealis.
FS2024 better have themā¦

I donāt understand why they donāt careā¦ Weather/Atmosphere is the most important thing with flight model physics for a simulatorā¦
I donāt know if itās really Asobo responsibility, I think there is something wrong with Meteo blue partnershipā¦ The Xbox compatibility broke and downgrade a lot of things too
Not really much point of thunderstorms/CBs etc in msfs as long as there is no hazard flying through them.
Now I can fly my mighty C152 through any severe live-WX.
Where is the turbulence? Air/vacuum pockets? Turbulence at the buttom of cumulus clouds? Roll movement? Updraft(front cb) downdraft(back)?
All we have are ultra-fast gusts that yaws the A/C, and updrafts for miles (live-WX).
Really no point with WX-radar either if the clouds are just for looksā¦

The weather changes in SU7 were NOT because of XBox. At the time, the number one bug was people wanting Live Weather that corresponded to what was on the live METAR. Iām not sure what the live source was before SU7, but people wanting it to match their live weather source. That was when all the weather changes went in, and it had nothing to do with XBox.

tgbushman is right. Too bad they didnāt create like an option for metar style weather and a pre SU7 weather depiction style.

MSFS2020 lightning storms are complete trash. Very sad that I saw better thunderstorm depictions in FS2004 than 2020.

Yes the real METAR depiction played a role too but itās not an excuse (and FOR me, it doesnāt take away any choices/responsibility about xbox compatibility update)
With Active Sky FS, itās a METAR depiction and we have thunderstorm/lightning
We need an option in the sim for PreSU7 weather depiction or METAR weather depiction

Is it normal that I donāt see rain in external view ? I only see and ear the rain in the cockpit
Iām not crazy we had rain outside before no ?
