Thunderstorms everywhere?

Having the same issue with thunderstorms and over cast…

Unreal weather can be found here…

https://unrealweather.blogspot.com/

I was flying with live weather on at the weekend, running Neofly missions in East Anglia, UK. Overcast, no rain, no storms, and high winds.

I think it has to do with the height of the clouds. If Cumulus clouds are also present here, they might be mistakenly recognized as thunderclouds. But this is only a guess…

Why cant they just disable lightning completely until they fix this? I’d be perfectly happy with no lightning for now, since it’s so annoying using live weather right now.

The unreal weather program is ok with METAR injections but it’s not as good as live weather was before Asobo introduced this ridiculous lightning problem.

Completely agree with you! They should disable lightning for now or at least give the option to do it yourself. In my opinion there should be an option to disable such things in life weather like Thunders % and Wind regardless.

I’m not sure if it’s easy to deactivate lightning. The weather engine seems to be really very complex.

Of course Unreal Weather is just a simple replacement, the weather engine of MSFS is much more complex and therefore probably more error-prone. Let’s see if they can handle that. Let’s hope…

Same for me, I’m tired of seeing lightning everywhere in Europe even with a reduced cloud cover. This evening flashes over Paris CDG but I live near Paris and it was nice.

Also otherwise the live weather might be sometimes - without comprehensible reason - error-prone. Today I experienced the following weather in MSFS in LOWS (Salzburg).

The weather camera of the airport showed this picture:

And these were the detailed weather data:

LOWS

Of course I checked all settings accordingly. In live weather, the weather event was always displayed as in the first screenshots.

Same around here… lighting EVERYWHERE… and the crackling of thunderstorm. Weather got better BUT this bug start first time that I flew in thunderstorm area… then it looks like I cannot get rid of it… PLEASE do something!!

In MSFS thunderstorm with many lightnings in KPNS (Pensacota Intl.):

Yes, such thunderstorms are caused by atmospheric discharges, the causes of which can be traced back to the eruption of a volcano. But in this case the sky would not be blue and without clouds where the lightning comes from. The thunderstorms are caused by the water vapor in the eruption column and there is nothing to see

Was the lightnings problem fixed with the weather update in 1.10.7.0? With me the error did not occur anymore…

Unfortunately not. I was just in liveweather mode in LIPI (Rivolto Air Base) in Italy. Thunderstorm and Lightning. And this is the weather in reality:

LIPI

and the weather-radar shows this:
