Thunderstorms in live weather

I tested it out in the US South East and noticed lots of thunderstorms as well but mostly it was heavy rain which the Sim didn’t have. But it arrived 2hrs later - I just left the plane at the airport to see how it evolved…

I’m not 100% sure because obviously it happens to me in faraway countries. But yesterday I flew in southern Florida and there was a thunderstorm in FS 2020 despite there being relatively few clouds at the time at Key West.

Them, today I flew around Shizuoka prefecture in Japan, and again there were thunderstorms. Very cloudy but no rain, but it could be.

And today I wanted to fly from Miami (until the pushback guy bugged and didn’t move, and when I tried to get myself into position I crashed into a building) and despite there being relatively few clouds, again a thunderstorm.

I don’t know about other people’s experiences, but it looks to me that as if in wanting to add thunderstorms in the new patch, they made them far too common

Yes, since the latest update I also have the feeling that there are thunderstorms all over the world… Lightning and thunder on every flight! At the moment I am travelling in Southern Europe/Spain. In any case different than before the update…

Also I dont saw thunderstorm clouds (cumulus nimbus) when have lightnings only normal clouds.

You lucky then. I get lighting and thunders even on lovely sunny days.

I flew out of LOWI last night using “Live Weather.” It was around 3C at LOWI irl but was around 16C in the sim with a few clouds and lightening frequently coming from the few clouds. For me the sim is unrealistic and unflyable now, especially with the CTD’s (which I never had until this week’s update).

Asobo should release a hotfix ASAP for:

Unrealistic lightening
CTD’s (especially using v map)
Draw Distance
Longitude and its many problems

But sadly I doubt we’ll see another patch until Oct 15 because they “go by the schedule.”

In the meantime I’ll find another game to play. smh

What wasnt mentioned in the update notes was the new Global Warming acceleration mod… Its in the update they just didnt talk about it.,

For someone like myself that enjoys using live weather, this bug is really sucking the fun out of the sim for me.

Agree. The lightning bonanza is so irritating.

I flew near TNCM a lot yesterday evening, with live weather, and didn’t see any lightning or thunder. Today, I could hear thunder a lot, and the skies had very little white cloud, with mostly clear sky.

Hi,
One thing is for sure, it isn’t fixed ! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Two nights’ running I’ve tried flying through areas that have thunderstorms, I’m clearly picking the right spots because MSFS says the live weather is thunderstorms.

And yet…no storms at any of those locations. Last night Florida, Cuba, Greece. Tonight, Portugal, Florida, Mid Atlantic, Cyprus, Turkey, Libya.

Not a flash of lightning to be seen.

Agreed, I was hoping this “totally revamped weather” would include finally having realistic consequences for flying in storms. Even when the clouds are ominously dark, there’s still no turbulence yet.

That’s odd, because just this morning I was happy about noticing light turbulence when flying through the low and light puffy clouds in the otherwise calm morning air around my home airport. After noticing that, I flew through more clouds to verify it’s really the clouds and not some other ground based updraft.

well, it is like one lil step forward and 3 big one sbackward.
i did notice the livelier behaviour in the savage cub too and was wondering, that is better,
but now the rest again.
live weather depiction is very off now, with some exceptions ofcourse.

I’ll check a few more places again. It did get really bumpy descending into Edinburgh in the CJ4 just now, but nothing showed on the weather radar.

Florida yesterday had an amazing weather in real life, thunderstorms, heavy rain, etc. In the sim clear skies and foggy on the ground… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I just flew a short cross-country and made sure I’m trimmed well and could definitely see updrafts (~300-500fpm, and again a little turbulence) in the bigger clouds. However, the could ceiling and coverage is quite off currently (should be OC for the entire state, not broken)

Update… I just flew a much bigger CC leg of 300 miles and the puffy clouds reaching down to the ground are just everywhere. Something is certainly off with live weather currently.

Maybe it’s because a lot of people complained saying there were too many thunderstorms? Especially lightning in clear skies. So perhaps they significantly toned it down.
