First it’s your local time. Then it’s the equivalent in UTC time. Then it indicates that you’re on live time, which means that wherever you choose to fly it will load the current actual local time at the destination.
Exactly!
I should add that “local time” is local to the area you’re currently flying over so it doesn’t necessarily match the local time where you currently live (the clock in Windows).
As said before and shown in the screenshot, there’s UTC, MachineTime (my time) and local local flying time (should be the same as my PC time) as I’m flying at my local Airport (LPLA).
So, the Sim is giving me the wrong local time. How do I fix this?
1.Bottom of screen (my time) Windows time
2.On top Local time (Should be the same as my time) because that will be the
same place that I´m flying at
3.UTC time
number 2 (in my case) and number 1 should be the same
Is your region on daylight savings?
Do you have the check box selected in your time setup?
or Do you manually adjust for DST?
The discrepancy between your system time and the sim time can only be because one or the other is incorrectly calculating DST, if you are at your home airport.
Have you confirmed that your computer is set to the correct time zone? It is possible to be set in the wrong time zone and set the time correctly. If the sim is looking at the time zone only then it may not represent the correct time.
I have no idea how the sim derives your local time but obviously it isn’t the same way your system clock is doing it.
You must check your region settings. Time zone must be set manually and not automatically. This will resolve the issue. A friend faced it and I fixed by doing that. Once you change the timezone manually you can set the time to sync automatically.
So, the local time is the local time where MSFS thinks you have selected on the map.
I can’t tell from the information that you’ve given if the local time where you have selected on the map (either the departure or arrival airport, or maybe some other point, if you’ve even selected anything at all either now or previously) is within your time zone.
And you’re sure that Daylight savings time isn’t currently active in your PC?
My time zone is set correctly and the Airport that I´ve been testing has been always the same, my home airport LPLA, therefore it should have been right on the mark with my PC time, no reason not to be.
Don´t understand why is MSFS2020 not picking up the right time zone.
I think MSFS doesn’t have DST zone supported. So it’s always showing the Standard time for that timezone. You don’t exactly “change” timezone when DST is in-effect. You’re still in the same timezone, but with a shift in hour due to the DST application.
But it is strange, though. At the moment, the DST is in effect for countries in the southern hemisphere. The Lajes airport is on the northern hemisphere, so it should be on standard time already, since it’s winter for you.
I personally dislike the existence of DST, I understand the purpose, but I dislike it.
We´re at Standard Time (ST) at the moment (Winter Time) and by Mar22 we´ll change back to Daylight Saving Time (DST) Summer Time. But until then my Sim will show a different hour as local time. That sucks. We need an option that will allow us to change to local time as needed. Thanks
