Time (Possibly the greatest song written)

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again

Somewhere over the Med between Nice and Ibiza on a late evening run

I don’t think even the Concorde will keep up unless it’s in the norther latitudes.

At the equator, the sun moves across the ground at ~ 1670 kph which is just over 900 kts. Concorde typically cruises at 1150 kts so can make the sun track backwards anywhere on earth as long as it is pointing west enough.

“Time”, really is one of the best songs ever written. I liked it since I was a kid but oh boy as you get older, don’t those lyrics REALLY hit home — and feel truer every day?!?

Have you seen the alternative versions of it?

Reggae style:

Country bluegrass / western style:

And just for good measure, the original lol

Lyrics

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
Sun is the same, in a relative way, but you’re older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I’d something more to say

Sorry to derail your topic!!!

The people that did those first two versions should be arrested!

I’ll be 60 next year - tell me about it!

I quite like them. The dub reggae one is part of an entire recreation of the Dark Side Of The Moon album, done beat-for-beat timing-wise in that flavour and all flowing into each other exactly the same way. Give it a chance… it’s pretty epic and funky IMO! I think they have done it with due respect — and they obviously love it themselves to do it that well.

Easy All Stars “Dub Side Of The Moon”.

YES! thanks for posting our fav in the RSP group heli flights… Greensky Bluegrass!

The first concert I ever went to was the ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ tour. My uncle changed my life when he took me to that show. I was 14 at the time. Was it really 51 years ago? Time indeed…

Concorde and fast jet pilots see the sun rise in the west.

From Germany to Scotland at 60,000 ft in a Panavia Tornado, we saw the sun rise in the west.

PS. Tubular Bells II, 1992 is the greatest piece of music of the 20th Century.

I have a copy from the first French press run 1973. Still have the posters and stickers.
Valued at £100.
A copy of the first British press run in 1973 with posters and stickers can fetch 1000s.
