Tobii Eye Tracker not working at all after SU3

Since updating I can’t get the eye tracker to work at all. It’s detected as a control and I’ve tested its working via the Tobii app but nothing will activate it. Anyone else having issues?

It works fine for me in SU3 1.5.27.0

Huh, strange. Thanks for confirming, I’ll have to keep playing around. Glad it’s working for you!

Hello @SASColfer1,

I just confirmed that my Tobii Eye Tracker 5 is working fine in MSFS after updating to SU3. In fact, one of the long-standing bugs that has been in the sim since launch (lack of hardware controls for Tobii) is now resolved.

Obvious question, but have you confirmed that you enabled the tracker from the Tobii Experience app before launching the sim?

Thanks,
SeedyL, MSFS Community Manager

Thanks for confirming @SeedyL3205. I have got the tracker enabled, I didn’t change anything post update so expected it to just pick up my previous settings. My profile is there but nothing working. I’m going to try deleting all of the profiles, maybe loading the sim with it unplugged and then again with it back.

Out of interest, where are the hardware controls located for it? Ignore the HDR brightness but I’m just getting “Control Listener” where I expected those curves to be?

Click the Gear Icon just to the right of the Tobii on the left side of the UI.

Press the cogwheel icon next to the Tobii entry in your controls list and then click “Hardware Settings”:

That will then bring up this configuration screen:

My profile deleting seemed to do the trick. Went back to full defaults and it’s working again. And absolutely agree with you, those controls are now fantastic! Thank you for the help.

Can’t seem to get mine working, I use opentrack with Tobii so I’m wondering if that’s the issue with SU3? Worked fine before.

Yeah I’ve read on the Discord that opentrack has to be fully removed to get the in-built solution working.

I read a post on Tobii’s website you can disable Opentrack by going into the Opentrack/modules folder and renaming NPClient64.dll so I’ll try that when I have some time and report back. Not pleased with how this is being handled because Opentrack is the only software that has made the Tobii usable in my case, otherwise it is a janky/jittery mess. The filters Opentrack uses has benefited me greatly and I don’t want to lose that.

Agree with the sentiment, I have found though that the tweaks you can now make in-sim cover everything that didn’t work for me previously. I didn’t use Opentrack admittedly but it seems to do everything now and you can adjust on the fly which is great.

My Tobii is working fine after the SU3 update.
It’s great to see proper adjustment controls again (like we had in FS2020.)
No Opentrack for me.

So I was able to get it to work by disabling the .dll file in the Opentrack/modules folder so there’s that. Really upset about this as Opentrack has way more in depth settings to tweak than what the flight sim offers. Is this a bug or intentional?

I’ve only had the Tobii eye a few weeks after using a grass Monkey Tracker. Spent ages setting it up in IL2 to then find using opentracker caused issues in MSFS2024 and disabling NPClient64.dll solved the problem. This was a pain as i’d have to reset it to play IL2.

Also in MSFS2024, even after Update 3 I cannot get head forward or backward movement, to work despite it working perfectly via opentrack Z-Axis. Everything else is fine but adjusting the head position slider moves my head behind the seat? Tried camera settings and all sorts but the only cure seems to be to set this to zero hence no forward backward movement.

Anyway after a bit of an experiment I downlaoded Opentrack 2024.1.1 Beta due to its 64 bit build.

I thought why not give it a go despite warning of bugs with PS3 cameras.

Brilliant. not found any bugs using it. Completely ditched Tobii Game Hub.

Takes a bit of setting up but all axis working, forward and backwards movementswork and no messing with the NPClient64.dll anymore. Both IL2 and MSFS2024 work with it.

Opentrack need to be running before MSFS 20204 is run.

In opentrack set input to tobii, output to freetrack 2 enhanced , filter i’m using is Accela. In options I have center at startup ticked. Also enable relative translation. Enable neck displacement 4cm. Disable for Z Axis. Disable effect for pitch and for roll.

That makes a huge difference to make head movement so you can see round and even under things more realistically.

Hope this maybe helps someone. It was driving me mad getting the forward and backward movement working and having to mess with DLL’s.

Also for me after SU3 Tobbii is not working proprely, I mean is working onyl the default settings but If I do personal setting does not work. Do I need to delete my settings? Directly in the SIM of via Tobbii Game HUB?

For the Tobii Eye tracker to work properly in SU3, you need to completely remove OpenTrack and GameHub from your PC.

I was able to use Opentrack using their latest version, it ignores the in-game settings which is what I wanted so thank you for that!

I had the same problem, and the reason was that the reason was a conflict with keybindings between my joystick and my honeycomb alpha in both was I having the 2 keybindings that you need for tobii. After I deleted both in one of them an other profile was working well and not only the default. But after deleting a profile you need to restart msfs.

Ok but this does not make any sense. If I need to use Open Track or Game Hub for other games like XP12 or DCS?
