Sometimes I have to press the drone toggle multiple times before the camera switches between cockpit and drone view.

I did not experience this on this specific setting but on other settings I found that having the “Input Repetition” option on the specific switch for a selection turned on, it can make selection tricky.
The reason for this is that, with repetition on, the toggle keeps… umm, toggling?.. for as long as you hold the switch. So it all depends on what state the toggling is (on or off) when you release the switch as to which state it sets. Not saying that is the case here but certainly something worth checking.

Cool! Glad it worked and thanks for the kind words. I was away from my computer for a while and when I got back I did some screenshots to show what I meant… which you figured out in the mean time! But just in case for others that might have the same/similar issue: you have to go into your controls settings. In my case I used one of the hat switches on my Thrustmaster throttle for the “Toggle drone” setting: here it is:
Note the marked little gearwheel on the right. Click on that for further options and you get:
Make sure the “Input repetition” option is deselected. And all is good.
