I bought a brand new touchscreen that is configured properly under Win 10. Under Windows the touch function is only assigned to the touchscreen monitor itself. It is not controlling the main screen!
I then installed Air Manager 4 Beta 13 for MSFS 2020 with the standard Cessna 172 panel being shown on my touch screen.
Everything is working well. I can use the touch function to interact with the controls.
However there is one annoying thing. When I use the touch function from Air Manager the MSFS 2020 cockpit and outside camera being shown on my 4K main monitor are being controlled by the touchscreen simultaneously. That means rotating the heading knob on the touchscreen causes the camera in the flight sim cockpit to move.
I have already checked that the touch screen (being shown under the controls section of MSFS as “touch pointer”) is not assigned to any Sim controls. It definitely is not. Nevertheless the touch display can control the camera on the 4K.
I’m no expert here, but it sounds like two things…
First, MSFS doesn’t support touch interface yet (realizing of course that you are using touch with Air Manager) And second, it sounds to me like a focus thing… MSFS is seeing things being altered, but the focus is still on the main screen, and it’s borking things up. Not knowing your actual configuration… is there a way to select the touch screen by clicking on it first (giving it focus) and then does a change using touch still effect the main screen?
I have no solution, except to say that it may work out once MSFS officially supports touch screens?
[Then again… MSFS officially supports Honeycomb products, and look where that has us. ]
Didn’t even notice this thread was 5 months old.
Duh.
I just started using a touchscreen panel with Air Manager and am having the same problem. Twiddling the (virtual) knob for the heading bug does change the heading bug but also swivels the cockpit camera. It’s both weird and annoying
Am starting to wonder if its a deliberate “feature” in AM to make me want to buy a Knobster
Windows 11
Air Manager Home Use 4.1.4 with Cessna 172 (free) panel
MSFS2020 1.26.5.0
HANNspree 15.6" touchscreen monitor
2x24" Iiyama montors of which one is the primary monitor for Windows
The touchscreen has been configured using Settings->Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input
then selecting the touchscreen as the, well, touch screen.
As far as I can see, the touch input should be directed only to the Air Manager window, but it somehow seems to also go to MSFS. I tried moving MSFS off the primary 24" monitor onto a the second 24" monitor and the same thing still happens, which would tend to indicate that its Air Manager that is causing the problem. If it were Windows somehow duplicating the touch input to the primary monitor then it shouldn’t follow the app when it goes away from the primary monitor. Also, my camera is configured to move when right-clicking the mouse and I would expect that the input generated by the touchscreen would be left-click input (wouldn’t it?).
I’ll keep searching for a solution, but any input would be welcome.
Andi / Ken,
I am having the same issue. Apparently focus does not leave the main screen when using a second touch screen. Has anyone found a work around or a fix?
I have set up and configured the touch screen the same as @CapnKendo
The touch screen works with Airmanager;
Say I want to alter the height of my flight; I touch the ALT Knob on the touch screen, spin my finger, and the altitude does alter, but it spins the cockpit camera at the same time; on triple screens, it is quite disorientating.
Did anyone figure out how to stop the camera from spinning?
I would love the knobster, but at just under $150, including shipping, it is hard to justify. I can get another 15.6" touch screen for dual panels cheaper.
Could you rebind the camera elsewhere and see if that fixes it? I use two touchscreens and love them. It is the only thing I can think of at least casually that might help.
The solution seems to be just to move the mouse away from the Window / Screen MSFS is opened on. As long as the mouse cursor is not over the MSFS window touch actions on other screens won’t affect MSFS or the camera views.
