Hi.
I have Steam edition MFS2020 with a lot of purchased addons in MFS marketplace.
I’ve just bought MFS2020 from Microsoft Store and after installing it I don’t see anything of my purchased addons.
I have the same Microsoft account in both steam edition and microsoft edition of MFS2020.
If you own Microsoft Flight Simulator on both the Microsoft Store and Steam, you will only be able to access the additional content on the platform used to make the purchase, even if you use the same gamertag on both platforms.
That’s why I buy externally only. I am on the MS Store Version but actually want to move to Steam. I only wait for a sale event because I don’t want to pay 120€ again.
Even if you bought the addons from the internal Marketplace, you would still have access to the same contents regardless whether you’re on Steam or Microsoft Store version. That’s because it’s bound to the same Microsoft Account that you used to log in to MSFS.
Hm too bad, I have bought the Carenado Mooney M20.
So when I buy the Disk version (or Steam version) of the Flight Sim 20 Premium Deluxe Edition some day, my add-on planes will no longer be available?
But I cannot buy directly from Carenado, they insist on having their planes “in marketplace only”.
And when I buy the Steam version of Flight Sim Deluxe there is a risk of addon DLC purchases not activating…hmmmm what to do what to do…
So all my DLC´s will be… simply gone when buying the Disk or Steam version of the Premium Deluxe Flight Sim some time later? (Disk Edition would be best.)
Oh come on please change that…
Sometimes Steam goes offline (too often), and you can’t start MSFS even in offline mode (there is no button). I want to be independent of Steam.
You also get updates much faster in MS Store than in Steam.
Also, I want to have only MSFS on my PC, dedicated only for this simulator, without installing Steam (with its overlay, etc.).
So when I buy the Steam version from Flight Simulator it is impossible to launch the Flight Sim while being offline?
This is strange…
Hm when I have no internet connection an evening or day long or over weekends I can start Steam in offline-mode and launch every other game with zero problems - but this does not function with the Steam version of Flight Sim 2020?
Well in this case it is better to buy the XBox Flight Sim version on PC with this XBox tool instead of Steam because XBox functions fully offline.
Thanks for the information!
edit:
No it does not launch offline in XBox, it says “Insert Disk 1” when shutting off the internet, I just tested it. Hm. Good to know so in this case the disk version of the sim is ideal.
What happens when I buy the Premium Deluxe disk version - are the XBox Gamepass marketplace addons available too for the Disk version of the Flight Sim 20?
Super-unfortunate, given how unreliable steam friend grouping and gaming is with other xbox friends within this particular game versus the same game purchased through xbox app directly.
