Transferring to a new computer

Hi. received my new machine today and I was wondering what the best way to transfer MSFS to the new computer? Are we allowed to have a version on two machines? I have the Microsoft store version. Would a transfer cable be the best to migrate my old hard drive over to the new one?

When I bought a new computer last year, I just logged into the new machine with my XBox account, downloaded and installed the sim and my mods/add-ons and was good to go. No problem at all. Might matter for some paid add-ons (PMDG products might require you to uninstall from the first machine or something). But the sim itself should just install without a problem on the new computer.

Yeah, what he says, and then reinstall PMDG et-al addons manually. Once verified New one is working then you can delete any and all things off old one concerning this sim, or as alternative thought.

If you are keeping old machine, nice place for all that stuff to sit as backup if necessary for 6 months to make sure you did not forget anything which needs to be brought over. And maybe could use it for data storage too. Lots of options on old PC. Movie-stream to TV, store music files, pipe through stereo, just world of things to use it for.

I would clone the drive to the new drive in the new computer.

Yes I agree with MSFSRonS. Clone your drive install into new pc and your done. if its windows 10 or 11 it should boot up no problem. I have the c: drive, a clone and My MSFS was on a SS drive Installed both set the directory for MSFS when you start MSFS ,Small up date will be required and set up your Hardware that’s all I had to do when i built a new PC. Use Nothing But Solid State drives!

Yes, you can have MSFS on as many machines (MS uses the term devices) as you wish.
The only caveat is that you cannot be signed in to multiple devices, you can only be signed in to one device at a time.
