Trees are too high at the approach ends of runways

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: The height of trees at the end of runways are too tall. A normal glide slope puts my wings, clipping trees as I approach the ground. We need a lowering of all trees at all default airports.

ICAO, coordinates, or specific location: MDSD, multiple around the world

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue? Default

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE: Every airport that is not handcrafted.

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

REPRODUCTION STEPS. Specifically, at MDSD, approaching at 35. However, I’ve observed this in any tree-surrounded airport. SYEG in Guyana showed the same problem, as did MDPP.

It is not only at ends of runways. Trees look much bigger when compared with an aircraft.

I had the same several times, at several airports (US Florida/Caraibean sea).. 2/3 tree at the exact end of the runway…
I just crashed in a tree using AP on ILS !

Flight Simulator’s biggest flaw, not only MSFS but also Xplane, is the trees that look like a Dubai skyscraper. This is a big nuisance, especially when they appear at the beginning of the runway and often there is a wall of trees before you see the beginning of the runway, forcing you to land in the middle of the runway. Voting to be listed in the feedback

Yes this seems to have just carried over from 2020 which also needs a fix. Not really bothered about the ones not near runways but the ones you get on short final are stupidly big. If you fly to avoid them then the approach is steeper and your landing distance is now massively increased. It’s really a pain on short/medium length strips.

When you’re on the PAPI and can’t see the end lights because of the trees, you know it’s bad.

We need the world hub, pronto.

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  2. Too high trees right in front of runway, almost impossible for 3 degree landing approach which is specified for RNAV27 approach.

This issue is all around the mission. especially small cargo missions, which usually go to small airports. It’s too many that your test team should have noticed a long time ago.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
The real airport at Bear Valley, Bear Valley has small bushes and trees cut far back from the runway. The one in the game has huge spruce trees all the way up to the runway and then very close on either side. It makes landing here a suicide mission. From 10 km out, the blue rectangle guides tell you to fly through a mountain and then through a forest in order to make this landing. I can pull it off after practicing, but it is an airshow manuever, not a VIP flight  .

ICAO, coordinates, or specific location:
Bear Valley, Bear Valley CA

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
NONE.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Go into free flight and but Bear Valley, Bear Valley as your destination. You will also get this airport in VIP missions too, with the same challenge.
  2. Try to land if you can.
  3. Don’t pay attention to the blue rectangle guideance or you will be dead.

This is 2NM out in the game:

This is near touchdown in the game (you have just cleared the trees and need to suicide dive to the runway over the road):

This is Google Earth of the real runway:

The sim places some giant sequoia-looking trees in inappropriate places. Until they fix that widespread issue (and I don’t know if they ever will), as a workaround, I suggest Bijan’s tree mods (Seasons Enhanced), which takes care of much of it.

That said, there are definitely trees and rising terrain immediately to the north, and a few smaller ones right next to the threshold. There just aren’t the giant ones we see in the default sim.

Wide angle view looking west-southwest, near the end and just east of the extended centerline of runway 19:

Reverse angle from just west of the centerline (the runway threshold can be seen on the right edge of the pic):

• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Trees right on the start of the runway. Below screenshot of runway 36 at EDDO. How am I supposed to land on it? And this is present both in career mode as well as free flight.
This issue is present at multiple small airports.

The majority of non-major airports I’ve seen in 2024 have this issue. Very frustrating having to do a nose dive to try and land!
