Trees looking like rocks - Graphic setting question

Hello everybody,

I have a question to my graphic settings. Most of my graphic settings are on High or Ultra. Terrain Level of Detail is set to 160. Object level of Detail is set to 170. Trees are set to high.
The sim is running at around 50 FPS.
RAM is only used 60% and CPU only 50%
What setting do I need to set that the trees etc are looking more normal and not like rocks?
Thanks

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D 6x 4.10GHz
GPU: 20GB PowerColor Radeon RX 7900 XT
RAM: 32GB G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5-6000 DIMM CL30

Thanks!

There’s nothing you can do to fix that. Those are PG or photogrammetry trees.

Essentially lots of imagery is take from planes, drones, or helicopters. These images are then processed to create 3D objects. This works great for a boxy object, but its terrible for a tree, or other object with a complex structure, such as a ferris wheel, power transmission tower, girder bridge etc.

What you end up with are large objects that take up the volume of the original object, but then have the imagery kind of draped over them. In the case of trees literally like a big sheet has been thrown over them, then the tree imagery projected on to it.

Some PG areas are better than others, but they all suffer from the same limitations of the technology. You can either disable PG entirely, or fly high enough that you don’t notice.

in 2020 they covered those up with the sim’s own 2d tress so that they didnt stand out as much…
