Trimming aircraft returns to T.O. trim all the time

Ok I am new to the msfs2020 but have had this problem all along and no correction so far. I am unable to put a trim into the aircraft and have it stay as set. it wants to go back to the T.O. position. I have been told to check the auto trim but I have disabled it if I am at the correct spot to do it and still no change. Could someone please tell me where I deactivate it and use more then 2 words and or what else is causing it…this is in all aircraft…Thanks

What aircraft are you using?

Doesn’t matter I have to be constantly input to the trim up down up down etc…should be able to trim and let her fly hands free within limits without climbing and diving. Played around with the cg but still the same problem…I assume it is the way MSFS aircraft are certainly not as smooth as FSX was. Can’t take you hand off the yoke to work the mouse for a few seconds. Its not realistic!

No. there is something going on there…
Neither FS2020 or FS 2024 do that in my set up.
Do you have any mods/addons?
What sim are you using?

Also, perhaps a binding conflict? Check to see that whatever you have configured for your trim settings (and pitch, bank & yaw) are not being used elsewhere.

To help you understand the problem. Choose an aircraft with an easy to see trim indication or visible trim wheel. Now try trim the aircraft and see if the trim is activate.

Good luck, sPK

It could be the assistance of “auto trimming aircraft”

for some reason my reply did not go through? I am not in auto trim and tried manually moving the trim wheel and that was also bad?

DS2020, Yes its all aircraft and I have yet to figure it out but this can’t be correct. Give me a name of a common aircraft that yo fly that is trimmed ok and I will try it and show yo what happens. I think the only one close to flying level was the Pitts of all aircraft??? which is strange, a 172 or 150 should be a no brainer but they are horible so something is amiss.
Thanks for all imput.

I mostly fly airliners, when I’m handflying, I trim the aircraft for the various phases of the flight, and don’t seem to have any problems.
Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t easy to do because you have no tactile feel, but you can get somewhat proficient with it after time.

I also am not having any problems trimming aircraft. In fact a recent update seems to have made it a lot easier.

Can I confirm you are trying to set the ELIVATOR TIM UP (NOSE UP) and ELIVATOR TIM DOWN (NOSE DOWN) bindings?

I tested this on the 172. Removed the yoke and zoomed in on the trim wheel that is on the middle console, down and left of the throttle.

I can get it to work by draging the trim wheel with the mouse. Using the NUM 1 and NUM7. Using a controller that is bound to the bindings above.

Good luck :crossed_fingers: sPK

I just flew the bonanza that comes with MSFS2020 so try that one…it is impossible and yes a C172 should be very simple it is easier but it still wants to wonder off in smooth air constant power setting and still is not stable? I prefer to trim on the Joystick but with some this is not possible I have tried the mouse on the trim wheel and also the number key pad but little help… I am now thinking it is in the control settings in MSFS that needs to be less control and more expo but have nit tried this nor have I hears anyone mention that yo can reduce the speed of the trim controller. I have not been able to get on lately but I will try out 3 airplanes and take notes and let you know. The 737 is a little bit more steady but again could be the joystick also but then like I said I have tried the mouse and numbers arrows. Thanks

Ok in rsponse to some. I know to trim a sim aircraft. I know how to trim real aircraft. Been there done that. But the trim in msfs is a far cry from FSX or real trimming and thats why I am questioning it. i have tried keyboard trim, mouse on the trim wheel ,my joystick does not have buttons on the joystick where I can trim with my thumb up and down(which is the best way) mine are buttons or tabs on the base of the joystick. The auto trim is off so the only thing left to try is could my sensitivity settings one or several be causing this. Agan new to MSFS so have yet to see much info on how to set the sensitivity and explanation of the settings. If someone who flys the msfs aircraft and has no trouble with the trim could you shoot me a screenshot of your settings so I can try them as I’m out of all other things to try. As far as aircraft which I have problems they are all that came with the msfs and even the PMG B737 is not correct. Thanks.

yes trim wheel is moving I can do it with the mouse and yes its uding trim switches for up trim and down trim on the elevator. I have tried the keyboard, mouse to actual trim wheels, and buttons on the thrustmaster. None of them are working as they should and not even close to real worl aircraft and its all aircraft! I might get is trimeed close and it ok for a minute or 2 then it goes into a dive or climb not realistic. If someone could shoot me a sensitivity settings that is the only thing left to settle this and a lot of options in the settings which could use a little direction to which would make these trim imputs less sensitive and more precise for a joystick o the elevator control.
