Turtle Beach Rudders Shown Twice

In MSFS 2024 I see my Turtle Beach Rudders shown twice in the list of peripherals and neither one can be deleted. I have unplugged them, started the PC and also installed MSFS 2024 a 3rd time.

New event. VelocityOne Yoke and VelocityOne Quad missing as control MSFS 2024 - they were there, rebooting hasn’t helped and disconnecting and then reconnecting didn’t help.

Hi @MajestySixJP ,

Thank you for this report. We’ve moved your topic into the User Support Hub.

The Bug Reporting Hub is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce without duplicating an existing bug report. Using the template or providing all the relevant information about your bug and sim setup is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.

If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the User Support Hub category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.

If you believe it is a new report and no duplicate exists, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.

All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.

3/7/2025: I just received this response from Turtle Beach support regarding the duplicate device appearance in the game controller section of the sim:
thank you for the video. I had a little chat with one of our developers previously about this issue and he responded:

"The V1 Rudder Pedals appear as two devices in the Windows Game Controller settings as the second entry is not related to the controls but instead is a bootloader mode entry for ease of access for firmware updates. This shouldn’t interfere with any controls of any other devices, however, we do agree that this is not the most conventional way of implementing this.

Our firmware team is aware of this, and they are working to get a firmware update out for the Rudder Pedals that will address this, to stop the dual device appearance on PC. We do not have a current expected release date for this yet, but please keep an eye out for this!"

So far only one solution worked for me, but I didn’t test it ingame, the frustration depleted my excitement.

In Device Manager, in Human Interface Devices, I disabled my 8th “HID-compliant vendor-defined device” and it still shown the rudders’ inputs, but only one of them exists.

I got to this point after clean & safe booting, deleting recent updates, then I started just deleting every driver, not sure what I killed in the process. I did have to reflip my mouse’s wheel to change direction as it was a regedit and I guess deleted it.

Don’t hold your breath, this has been a issue with MSFS 2020 since the launch of the pedals, TB absolutely have know about this for well over a year

3/8/2025: One item that I showed Turtle Beach support (which they already knew) was that I saw that there were two USB input devices (Device Manager/Human Interface Devices/USB input devices) with the same loccation ID: * 0005.0000.0001.002.004.001.000.000.000

  • 0005.0000.0001.002.004.001.000.000.000
I identified these by removing the V1 pedals, unplugging all unnecessary USB devices to simplify things, looking at each remaining USB device (right-click/properties) and writing down the location ID for each. Then I plugged in the v1 pedals and looked at each USB device again, finding two new ones that were identical. Deleting one or the other is not a solution, as they are both required. However, they do cause confusion to the system when trying to update the firmware using the Turtle Beach control center. It gets confused and sometimes locks when attempting to update using the wrong USB device. Just clear all the assignments for two devices in the sim’s device list, then try making assignments in one, then the other to see which one is the actual rudder pedal device. This should also clear the way for SPADnext or other software to recognize the correct assignments.

Who said both is required? What am I supposed to clear the assignments of if the game only shows one rudder, but my three controllers are indexed as C2,C3, and C4?
I refuse to rebind my warthog axis every game session, just because a firmmware update method introduced itself but only after 2 days of using the rudders. In Warthunder, even if I was rebinding my roll axis to the warthog axis 2 and saved it to file, when I reloaded said file after 2 seconds, it loaded it back to the rudder, utter useless.

To be clear, what I could interpret by how the game behaved, my controllers defined by the game were:

  1. ghost rudder (which the game doesn’t show, and there are no axis inputs from, but loaded control files reroute first controller axises to 4th rudder)
  2. warthog hotas (which the game interpreted as the first controller when saving the file)
  3. warthog throttle (worked as expected)
  4. real rudder (gets multiple controls because of the ghost rudder)
If I could make the ghost rudder 4th I would be okay with it, but how?

I just tested it ingame after my…“fix”, and after one last rebinding, it correctly reads from the file, and works as expected, but I am ready to take a better approach if possible.

Also, I broke my Microsoft Store, because I deleted most Edge relevant files and registry keys, and found out the store is Edge dependent (it crashes when the download button loads in), so goodbye Forza, and the firmware updater also. What world do we live in, that companies started mindlessly requiring this kind of stuff? “Oh you can’t access our third-party gated software because of a you problem? Have you tried reinstalling your entire system?” What happened to .msi or .exe installer? And then I am the bad guy if the store or the xbox app gets corrupted, refuses to download the game and I have to take ownership of the secret folders, delete the…120GB corrupted files so the intented app can redownload the entire thing? Ask me how I know…

does it matter which one you use???

I just experienced this issue. I actually returned my first rudder pedals because of this issue - now a new set has arrived and they are just the same.

I’m only using the pedals, I use a Virpil HOTAS for other control.

When my first set of pedals arrived, they were only listed once - it was a calibration issue that made me download the Center software and update the firmware. (which I posted about here and asked about in their Discord, but no -one had a fix)

It was only after the firmware update that the pedals appeared twice in the Windows controller UI (and in sims, but I do my testing in the Windows control panel). I couldn’t use either of the two listed devices, and again Turtle Beach had no answers on their Discord. By the time their support had sent me an email I had already returned them to Amazon.

Today my new pedals arrived - bought elsewhere this time - and right from the off they show up as two devices. I checked and the firmware was v1, so I updated that as well and no difference. The real issue is that I can’t do anything with either listed device - they have zero input registered at all.

Really unhappy.
