TurtleBeach Velocity One Yoke. Disables Sound

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
When the yoke is plugged in or attached to a hub that is not on, while 2024 is running, it will stop all sounds(except the dialog voice but this may be due to my separate Comm Device for Dialog/ATC)

This will happen on any screen, main menu, free flight, career, etc.

Notes:
-Seems to be TurtleBeach yoke specific. No other peripherals (that I use) have this effect.
-Does not effect sound out, from usb Sound bar.

WORK AROUND/BEST PRACTICE =
Be sure yoke is plugged (or hub is on) in prior to starting 2024.

Hi there, the yoke has headphone output, so if your computer switches to the yoke output then all you need to do is switch your OS back to your regular audio device; or set the output device manually in the sound settings.

Good thought.
Maybe 2024 detects the headphone jack, ignoring the selected default presets.

I’ll check it out further.

this is exactly what is happening. go to the mixer and change the output back to default. or better yet search for “device manager” and remove the audio drivers for that headphone jack in the audio section. (delete the nvdida high definition drivers while there for good measure, they are known to cause studders. those are just to drive monitor speakers.)

That is the issue wookie & darunada!

Consensus?

-2024 issue because it allows changing of default sound devices when they are already set in msfs. Leave as bug report.

-Velocity Yoke issue, no matter whether it’s normal behavior or needs option to disable in yoke menu. Move to User Help-Hardware & Periphericals.

In my case, I use the mobo sound Realtek for Sounds & a Dell usb sound bar for Comms. Windows default and msfs 2024 default.

FIX:
Requires a couple steps, otherwise the next time the yoke is plugged in, it will revert to default. Uninstalling will just reinstall next yoke plug in.

Device Manager>Audio inputs and Outputs

  • Right click the entries shown below & select Disable for both of two Velocity One entries.

Control Panel>Sound- In Playback & Recording

Good stuff here :+1:

hell yeah brother.

This BTW is NOT a MSFS2024 thing. The yoke does that every now and then, stealing the output from wherever you set it. Happend to me way before on 2024 once or twice.
