Twin Otter Engine Sounds

Not if you’re using the TSS files as required with Zaki’s mod - they are all editable to your own preference just as they are in FSX/P3D etc.

Exactly.
Only the .wav files from “TURBINE SOUND STUDIOS - DHC-6 PT-6 TWIN OTTER HD PILOT EDITION SOUNDPACK FOR FSX” are editable and so customizable to the sound files delivered with the plane.
By matching the new engine sounds to the existing cockpit sounds, you can achieve a good balance.

The problem is not that the wav´s in the pck or tss set are to loud.
I extracted all sounds of the twotter pck and the sounds are the same out of the TSS Soundpack, same loudness, the raw files are not to loud. It´s anywhere in the way they are noded in the Soundbanks via Wwise. Sadly I´m not able yet to open a PCK as Project in Wwise, I just convertet the sounds out of the PCK in Mp3´s.

I´m sure Aerosoft is working hard on the solution, I did this just, because I really like the plane and I needed sound for immersion

But as described above the overall sound performance is nearly as good as the Asobo sounds.
I even exchanged the outside engine sounds with the “Beechcraft B1900 PT6 HD Pilot Edition Sound Pack” from Turbine Sound Studios (unfortunately additional costs) because the outside sounds of the “DHC-6 PT-6 TWIN OTTER HD PILOT EDITION SOUNDPACK” had been to sharp for me. But this, of course, depends on the individual’s own taste.

I am really glad for this fix. But before I buy another addon I will wait a few days what Aerosoft will come up with and leave the Twotter in the hangar.

Yes, update should be available in the next few days, guess we’ll see what it contains.

yep - although I’d also like them to simulate having a better headset too. Full power is unpleasant, and I can hardly hear the radio

But how do you make the sound.xml use the wave files instead of the wwise?

In the layout.json he included all the required wave files to the library. In the sound.xml he set the parameter WwiseData=“false” when the sound should not be taken from the pck file but from the wave file with the fitting file name. I am only guessing - all very new to me.

Sounds so straightforward.
I would like to use the engine sounds of a legacy .wav set for the AH-P51D. Step one - putting the legacy set with the sound.cfg in the P51 sound file - is fine. Step 2, editing the .xml is another matter: I presume I have to acquire an xml editor? Step 3, I’ve noticed that the Layout.json in some addon aircraft contains a line for each individual .wav sound - and there are a lot. Am I correct that if I do the ‘false’ flag to any engine references in the original .xml, I take only, but all, engine sound references in the legacy into the Layout? Finally, would I have to edit out the non-engine references in the sound.cfg?

No, you can use any text editor. But one that colour codes XML structure would be helpful, which Notepad++, and MS Code Writer will do.

Quick question…will this mod work with the Marketplace edition? Thanks.

YOu dont have to edit the layout.json. There is a great tool on Github. Just download and drag the layout.json with the mouse over the MSFSLayoutgenerator.exe and drop it.
