in systems.cfg file verify that this line is set to 1
parking_brake =1
If not change it.
in engines.cfg file change
DisableParkingBrakeControls = 1
to
DisableParkingBrakeControls = 0
Don’t forget to save the changes.
Parking brake will be functional at the next restart of MSFS.
For the ASI in knots:
Download this mod and install it https://flightsim.to/file/2456/zlin-aircraft-asi-in-knots
There’s just one small flaw: the speed indicated on the ASI is a little overestimated, but nothing serious, and it’s a flaw already present on the original aircraft.
Wow! Thank you for the additional information on what to do about both the airspeed gauge and the parking brake (or lack thereof).
I didn’t know those two things were “fixable”, though it may take away from the intended workings of the Zlin Cub-- I’ll decide how I want to handle them, but at least I have the needed instructions.
No it won’t take away the intended workings of the Cub.
Parking brake: whether you use it or not is up to you, it simply became available if you want it.
ASI: displaying your speed in knots or kmh won’t change anything for flight, it’s only a question of preference.
About aircraft features, you should know that the MS/Asobo choices are not necessarily those they could be.
If you go to the Zlin website, you’ll see that many different options are available for many points, especially for instruments. Changing the ASI for one in knots can also be a retrofit.
So again, these choices are not at all unrealistic.
But in the end, the choice is yours and you do as you want.
I just wanted to take advantage of this post to point out that it’s possible to improve this plane (and others) with some simple modifications. This could also be interesting for other simmers.
Have fun.
This worked very well in FS 2020, but how do I do the same thing in 2024? The Savage Cub in 2024 is part of the streamed packages, and the files have an “.fsarchive” extension. No .cfg files that I can access.
.fsarchive extension if for encrypted files.
I don’t own 2024 but maybe it’s possible to create mods as with 2020 ?
The big problem here is you’ll have to build complete systems.cfg and engines.cfg with all params, not only the differences, And this is a long job. Except if you can re-use the files from the 2020 version for this mod.
Once again I don’t have 2024 (and this is one of the reasons) so you’ll have to find by yourself.
Good luck.

Ah jeez! I see what you mean now. I’m now thinking that moving the Savage Cub folder from the 2020-- Official, to the 2024-- Community folder might be worth a try. Though, I have a feeling if I leave the 2024 Savage folder in the “2024-- Streamed” folder, I may have conflicts between the two. But like you said, only one way to find out.
That’s a tad humorous what you said about why you don’t own 2024… but you bring up a very valid point. You can’t edit any of the items in the streamed folders, without having special doo-dads for working with them. Thank you again for your replies.
