I noticed a very small update occured when I loaded the sim a few days ago. Since then I’ve had two straight CTD’s mid-flight. The audio would stutter significantly for a few seconds, and then right to my desktop with no popup.
They occured with different aircraft, one with PMDG and one with Fenix.
Anyone else experiencing something similar in the last few days?
What are some ways I can troubleshoot? I have limited knowledge of this area. I have a ton of addons, possibly its one of them causing an issue…
Since the June 22 2023 update my game no longer launches at all. I was flying fine the day before. All my other resource heavy games work. I tried a game re-install & updated my NVIDIA Graphics driver with no luck. If it persists I’ll try a complete win 10 re install.
Moved to Tech Talk which is more appropriate whilst trying to narrow down the issue, before creating a bug report (and using the template)
First thing to always start with you before you start disassembling hard drives and ripping out Windows is to move everything out of your community folder. If it loads fine, put your addons back one by one until you find the culprit. The clue for me is, there’s been an update and suddenly it doesn’t work, 99 times out of 100, it’s a mod that is conflicting.
Yes, it’s a tiresome process but it’s worth it when you find the problem.
I’m flying again. A complete win 10 reinstall from disk did the trick. Having 2 large partitions helps since I can just move everything over and only wipe the system drive.
This game SHOULD NOT REQUIRE A COMPLETE SYSTEM REINSTALL to make it work. Face it, this is just busted and hopefully 2024 will work like it should.
Do you guys think this may have an impact? The timing lines up…
From the posts I read updating the graphics driver is among the 1st steps to take when the game is glitchy. The latest NVIDIA graphics driver for my pc has been updated with msfs 2020 in mind.
I tell myself to keep my operating system lean and mean. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work out that way. The less programs one has running should, hopefully, help with any programs conflicting with one another.
Ok, windows was innovative but having more than a three of them open at one time, is all I can take unless doing a bunch of file moves, so have two copies of explorer open side by side so I can see from and to locations at the same time.
MSFS is the ONLY thing open for 99% of all my flying, maybe adobe reader so I can review my flight plan, as entering into FMC. And my new desktop is way powerful, so could have open lots of stuff, but flying to me is supposed to be relaxing and fulfilling (ok, not so much with msfs) having to try to accomplish too many things at the same time is not good for my brain.
This was it. After updating the driver I havent experienced any subsequent CTDs.
