The other day I saw these news: NVIDIA GeForce Users Must Update Their GPU Drivers As 8 High Risk Vulnerabilities Discovered .If you google it, you can see that it a real thing. Basically there are 8 new high risk vulnerabilities on old Nvidia drivers and it is recommended to install v.566.03 (which is known for not being the best for msfs, I can included myself in the affected group). The thing is that there are so many people that don´t know about this, specially in the flightsim community, in which many just preffer to stay with god knows how old drivers that just works for them to run the sim smoothly.
I´ll take this chance to kindly ask Asobo devs to warn Nvidia about the poor performance of the sim with this drivers. 561.09 was just perfect and i think I speak in the name of all your community when I ask you to do something about it, if it wasn´t already on your plans, despite how close msfs 2024.
While that’s generally good advice, many MSFS users experience issues with new NVIDIA drivers, including CTDs, so a balanced approach may serve better here. Possible driver security issues can be mitigated temporarily through other means, depending on a user’s expertise, discipline and availability of an additional PC to offload tasks.
Never had problems with Nvidia drivers.
Also not with the latest driver.
The instability of the configuration (soft and/or hardware) is most of the time the cause of the CTD’s. When the driver is bad, then all or almost all the PC’s has problems. I think that is not the case.
Graphics drivers are highly complex and the way specific games utilize the API can cause issues in conjunction with other specific hardware. I myself, have experienced CTDs in MSFS VR with certain NVIDIA drivers that disappeared when rolling back to an older driver.
The easy solution is not to use the NVidia package (the security issues are usually in the bloatware that is Gefore Experience),and let windows update deal with the patching. I’ve never had a problem with the windows update supplied Nvidia driver. And if there is a security vulnerability, it will get patched with the windows update cycle.
When problems with a new NVidia game driver, go two steps back in version number or try to use the studio version and wait until there is a patch or new driver available. Maybe that’s safer then the use of a driver with a security risk.
