Unable to click "Ready to Fly" in VR

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

This is random but usually happens if on first flight I launch in VR from the world map. Once the flight loads, I can see the "Ready to Fly button but the mouse cursor does not come up.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Not all the time, it’s usually better after other flights or when switching from 2D to 3D.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Start sim
  2. Do free flight and select airport and parking
  3. Switch to VR
  4. Start flight

• Yes.

• Mousepointer is invisible. By moving the mouse around it will find the “Start Flight” Button after some time.
Same Hardware as OP. 4090, Crystal Light, Logitech Mouse.

• Pressing w to focus the Start Flight button, then Space to confirm is a reliable workaround.

Having the same problem intermittendly. Can’t give any pointers how to reproduce it. Seems random, but it probably isn’t.

I also have this problem occasionally. But if I press D the “Ready to fly” becomes selected and then space key will enable it.

I am also seeing this occasionally although have no idea why as my start procedure is usually the same every time. Have a Pimax Crystal Light.

• Yes.

• Freeflight. Selected a small GA aircraft in pancake mode, switched to VR and selected a parking spot. Got the ”ready to fly” button but no mouse pointer, tried random joystick buttons and keyboard keys. Not even escape changed anything. Switched to other applications to see the mouse pointer working. Still no mouse in the sim, but I accidentally got the ”ready to fly” button to change appearance so after searching I managed to hit it again.

This was the second time I tried 2024 (first was right after release) and the first time in SU2. A very small dataset, but from my perspective it happens every time…

Same issue since SU2. “solution”: Back into 2D. Press ready 2 fly. Back into VR. Fly.

I only had the case 2 times since SU2, but while in VR, you can also try to press S and then SPACE key to validate « Ready to Fly » when mouse is inactive…

Don’t ask me why it works here

I just start randomly hitting and clicking things until I manage to activate some way to click it.

But normally I start in 2D to avoid the Ready To Fly problem and to make sure the cursor locks on to the sim monitor. Often it won’t lock and then will drift off screen on the initial VR load.

It’s not ideal but works around the two problems.

Another thing which helped is to walk around pressing asdw. After “one step”, you can click “Ready to fly”.

Thank you for the bug report.

Older thread but this happens to me every SECOND flight in 2024.

I do a flight and return to the main menu… and then I start a new flight - I get the greyed out button.

Yes always the second flight in vr the mousepointer is gone.

The best way to reproduce this bug is to first go to an random airport, enter vr and go back to the menu when in vr and change airport. I didnt get the mousepointer in any new airport i loaded after, i had to exit vr to press ready to fly button.

Still happens with latest SU4 release

Yes still happens for me too.

• It happens systematically for me after completing a training in the carreer mode. I cannot click on the buttons to go to the next lesson or to go back to the menu.

Now even worse.
Happens every time.
The workaround by switching VR on and off doesn’t work anymore. There is a new bug. When VR is one time disabled it cannot be reenabled anymore. In this combination this is basically a complete game breaker.
