In FS2020 I could start a flight with any aircraft airborne and select the altitude.
In FS2024 the sim loads the plane into whatever altitude it deems appropriate, and I can’t modify it.
I would like to be able to load a plane, pick a location, set an altitude above the ground, and fly.
I know I can use slew mode once in the cockpit. Is that the only way?
Hi @BegottenPoet228
I thought the EFB should allow me to set my “starting altitude” even though it says “cruise altitude”. But it’s never done that for me either. In the flight I set up for the screen shot below, I set 12,000 FT in the EFT before flight, which is where I wanted to start rather than cruise. But it gave me the error icon showing an incorrect altitude, and the flight actually started at ~5900’. So that doesn’t seem to work as I thought it would. If I hit the “auto” button, it gives me a valid cruise altitude, but way above where I want the flight to start.
I’ve also tried going into my flight plan and clicking on the three vertical dots and editing my desired altitude for my starting location (which was an in-flight position), and that didn’t start where I wanted it to either.
So short answer, I haven’t found a way to consistently get my in-flight starting positions to actually begin where I want them to start either.
