I bought a new gaming mouse that has 4 programmable buttons (it isn’t really a top-end mouse, it cost about $40). My last mouse only had 2 programmable buttons and I thought it would be handy to map a few more of my often used functions to mouse buttons. When I go in to configure the mouse under /Options/Controls/Mouse there is a picture of a generic mouse and it only has options to assign functions to two buttons.
Does anyone know if there’s a way to get MSFS to “detect” this new mouse so that those buttons will be functional in-game? Do some brands of gaming mice get detected by MSFS so that you can use all the functions and this is just not one of them? I don’t see any gaming mice listed on the peripheral compatibility list.
You "may"be able to go into your mouse settings and assign the custom button(s) to a key or combo, then in msfs assign that key or combo. But it would probably be a global assignment, not msfs specific. Depends on your mouse software.
Check with the mouse manufacturer for a current Windows driver. MSFS can only use the mouse buttons identified in Windows.
I have the same problem with my “gaming” mouse. My mouse has two buttons on the left side and one button next to the scroll wheel and none of these are recognized by Windows. The manufacturer’s mouse driver is bundled only with the keyboard I didn’t buy. My “gaming” mouse is working like a $5 generic mouse….
