I’ve been out of the simulator for quite some time, in fact I just fired it up for the first time in about 8 months.
I seem to recall that in prior versions, I could set a precise time in the World Map by dragging the slider to approximately where I wanted it, then using the plus and minus buttons on the menu to set time to a specific minute. It appears those have now been deleted.
Is there a keyboard command to do this now, a way to enter a time in using number keys, or an option to restore these buttons? Or am I going to be stuck between choosing between 4:57 and 5:01 when I’m trying to set up a 5:00 flight?
This yet another puzzler in terms of design. Why they would take the time to (a) implement this with 1 minute “+” and “-“ buttons in addition to the generic slider and then (b) later on, take the coding time to remove those buttons so you can’t be time specific is a real head scratcher. Why was the removal of that so important that it superseded other issues?
Well…due to xbox we had several unpleasant changes on pc…this one, the introduction of the white dot etc…
I am wondering is this so difficult for them to differentiate these two versions…or they dont have any time for these …due to other priorities?
I wondered about that. It then makes my question a little more puzzling when you include…
Knowing that Xbox could only do sliders (or whatever), why would they implement something for a few months for PC that then had to be unimplemented for Xbox?
Or they could choose not to remove it at all from the pc version
I like taking screenshots for the weekly challenges and this made it more difficult for me to get the results I want…
I think it is a priority to demonstrate that MSFS is running the same programme on both PC and Xbox.
As sort of endorsement of the capability of Xbox.
Micosoft have had a tough time with Xbox last couple of years and it needed a boost, hence Xbox on MSFS.
You see the same with Aerosoft that are best buddies with Microsoft. Apart from the obvious advantages of only developing one version and catering for a much wider audience with a PC/Xbox plane I am sure that they have been “asked kindly” to do so because it fits Microsoft strategy.
PS my sim time is always off by what is best described as arbitrary compared to my actual time/PC time.
Never managed to make head or tail of it.
That’s too bad. I really hope they reconsider. What’s next in this mad drive for commonality? Should the simulator be useable with Xbox peripherals only? Should PC users have to partition their drives and boot the Xbox operating system to use it?
I had really hoped that the program would have matured into a highly-developed product, but it looks like once again Microsoft’s ambition outpaces the available technology and the demands of the markets.
I’ll continue to fly when the mood strikes me, but if they continue down this path, I’ll likely be checking back in another 8 months or so. Maybe by then they’ll have restored this functionality and figured out how to avoid annoying users with destructive updates.
Sorry but what an absolute load of rubbish! I’ve heard XBOX blaming for many things but this one is a bit illogical. It’s more common to find incremental buttons than sliding scales on console as this is largely done with a mouse and it isn’t particularly natural to “click and drag” with a controller.
I mean, do people really think XBOX can’t click a plus and minus sign? The entire XBOX UI navigation is done by moving a cursor around on MSFS, we have to click on endless small icons on many screens with a controller (including cockpit interaction) if we’re not - you know, using a mouse like any PC user…
Note that it absolutely isn’t easier to click and drag with an analogue stick than it is to click on a button.
Fair enough, I shouldn’t have directed it at anyone in particular, but regardless of your intention it didn’t take much to turn this thread into another “cos of XBOX” thread, it’s just lazy at this point. What SU did these buttons actually dissapear? SU5?
Yes, because for some reason unknown to us they decided to remove it, maybe it was causing issues with something so it was quicker to temporarily remove the buttons, or maybe it’s just bug no. 367 and it’s not actually intended to be gone at all. I’d suggest it gets sent to ZenDesk and then we might get a proper response to the issue.
If it turns out they DID remove it for the XBOX release, then it’s the most nonsensical decision I’ve ever heard. They might as well remove all the small clickable icons on the world map, all the switches and buttons inside the cockpit and any other clickable actions throughout the UI.
