Same boat for me, on the checking for updates screen at the beginning, select ‘update’ and boom CTD.
For mine, I load up the sim, Steam had updated, but when launching sim says checking for updates then just loads the sim 1.27.21.0 and doesn’t ask to update, the load screens taunt me with Update 11 content but the sim hasn’t updated.

Same situation this morning. I would strongly recommend users wait out the connectivity issues before doing anything unnatural. It seems most of the CTD are due to the servers at the moment.
