7th Cavalry has created a Heavy Airlift Wing utilizing MSFS to interface with DCS. Missions/flights flown in MSFS will contribute directly to supply provision and logistics capacity for our DCS operations. You’ll be assigned weekly flights, with weekly training, creating truly global operations which have a real impact on conditions in DCS. We have an ACARS for flight tracking and personal logbooks. If this sounds like something you’re interested in join us today at 7cav.us/enlist and discord at 7th Cavalry . Be sure to put down Gallagher as your recruiter. This is truly unique and adds amazing depth to both MSFS and DCS. B737, C17, C130, A320, C208, King Air 350, and Chinook will be initially supported with room to add new modules.
The Digital Combat Simulator AO of the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment reflects the tip of the spear in military aviation engaged in combat across the globe. For this to be effective in the real world, however, an entire global network of logistical and support flights must be conducted without interruption 24 hours a day to deliver critical equipment, munitions, fuel, and other materials to the front lines. 3rd Battalion hopes this gap in simulated air operations can be filled with the creation of a Heavy Airlift Wing section playing Microsoft Flight Simulator and making use of the VATSIM network. The intent is the success of their weekly operations will integrate with DCS and 3-7 and play a direct role in their combat effectiveness through replication of global supply chains and heavy lift operations.
A Heavy Airlift section adds complex and dynamic starting conditions for DCS Operations through the completion of assigned flight hours as a unit. Completion of 100% of assigned flight hours for the wing would result in the DCS Operations having 100% logistical resources and full inventory. Likewise, completion of bare minimum flight hours necessary to achieve positive status in accountability will result in diminished inventories, fuel, and logistical potential for DCS. This integration provides a dynamic element to the AO sourced from truly global and realistic flight ops.
Unlike other Virtual Airlines, the creation of a group specifically focused on American Heavy Lift Operations would offer unique flying opportunities in environments typically not engaged with in the simulator. Additionally, the unit would service rare locations reserved for military operations, be it long-haul flights from California to Germany, to restricted bases in heavily controlled airspace in the domestic United States. This unit offers a totally unique vision of integration between MSFS and DCS using some the highest fidelity modules available.
Weekly Practice can be both academic, for example on the use of approach charts or the structure of airways and routing, and assignment driven, based on the needs of the DCS AO in their upcoming deployment operations. For the latter, the Section Leader would present each member with their assigned route(s) for the week and go over special considerations such as unorthodox approaches or flying in a combat environment like Afghanistan, etc. The academic setting is applicable to aviation as a whole and thus can accommodate large classes/SPs while providing overlap between the sections in terms of training topics and uniformity of knowledge.
We are exceptionally excited to get this off the ground and believe you’ll find this unique approach rewarding and with real depth added to both MSFS and DCS. Come join us today!
