It is not a problem of hardware, addons or settings.
It’s a logic flaw on the part of the developers. No helicopter pilot wants to or can land on sloping terrain of more than 10 degrees. The only thing he can do in such terrain is to touch down either with the front part of the runners or laterally with a complete runner and thus stabilize the helicopter. This also works in MSFS 2024, but it’s just a shame that in the video sequence that then takes place, control over the helicopter is no longer possible and it crashes. So the problem is the placement of the people who have to be rescued.
Unfortunately, once the person to be rescued has been found, it is not possible to choose whether he or she should be rescued by landing or with a winch. Not even if you have received the extension for winch rescue.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
•Yes
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• It is likely that a computer program generated the placement of the person to be searched. It is not only the places on slopes that are too steep, but also in forests. There, too, no helicopter pilot lands in the real world. Solutions to the problems would be, on the one hand, to be able to choose between landing to pick up the person or using the winch. It would also be helpful to expand the radius of the landing site. This would also help if you have to fly goods on a rope to a construction site. There are also obstacles there that can lead to the aborting of the mission.

Same here, now after do 4 mission all rest of available rescue mission are impossible to do for me, all persons to rescue are palced in middle of forest and I can’t land.
EDIT: When I try to land in nearest possible area and walk to rescue area, mission also is failed because of abondoned aircraft.
It really is impossible to do this mission without doing things that are outside the simulation. We have to land by colliding with trees, especially in Mansonville missions. Detail, these are rescue missions by landing, without using a rope or equipment. I believe that you can adjust this situation, because, for me, it is one that I am most attracted to.
I have the same problem. It seems the logic is a bit of a mess. Like said above landing on a grade is hit or miss whether the game lets you while in the animation you are sliding backwards. Landing in trees is also hit or miss whether the trees are actual objects or not.
This should be pretty high on dev list since it makes it almost impossible to progress in career.
Whom ever thought out these missions was drunk. There is no logic in placing them. I am doing the Mansonville-Thomas mission and he is located near the peak of a mountain, next to cliffs, and in trees. I set my Tree and scenery detail to low, but as you get closer to the ground, new trees spawn in. Some are ghost trees that you can fly right through, others are not. These rescues should have been hand placed with a tricky, but obvious place to land (edge of a lake or a small field with out much room ect.) Not the peak of a mountain on a 45 degree slope in the middle of a forest. There is no shred of realism to this and it is cutting the immersion.
Same here; after grinding to finally buy a helicopter first SAR mission in the Alps took ages to find the guy then the location was impossible to get to.
This was a non winch mission.
I have flown MSFS Helicopters for literately decades and it was totally impossible to land.
I finally crashed and now my career is stuffed. Thanks Asobo.
There is a bit of a trick. Not all trees will cause a crash. Set your tree density to low. When you are a few hundred feet in the air, you will see areas that are just large enough to land your helicopter. However, as you descend, trees will start to appear. This trees that appear do not cause a crash.
Try and land within 0.05 nm from the target. You will then have to yet out and walk to the target.
I also noticed with the freelance SAR missions, crashes only hurt you if the target is aboard the aircraft. Don’t get me wrong, it is still really hard to do.
Dealing with the same issue as well. It makes me wonder how much AI is used in mission building because you would think that a proper developer would incorporate a parameter that would only allow missing persons to populate near a clearing or manually generate a clearing, but I don’t know I just work here. Good luck flying ladies and gents, hope they fix this soon.
