Hey there. I am wondering since i experience an unusal CPU usage if something changed since the Update with the Dune Expansion.
I have a X570 Asus Board with an AMD 5900X and a Asus NVIDIA RTX 3090.
I usualy had the Settings on 4K so i was GPU Limited, like i am now, But the CPU usage has risen from 4-8% to 20-44% which also increased my CPU core temps from stable 65 degrees to nearly 85. I noticed that already on sim startup as soon as the Dune screen comes it rises to 40% usage and then goes back to stable 8-12%.
When i choose my airport and aircraft and go to fly . it rises as soon as i load into the world. sometimes it drops to 8-10 % but i then still have 70 degrees on the core.
I already do a clean windows 11 installtion with only the simulator. same result.
And to mention it is only in MSFS2020 . When playing other games like Call of duty or Age of Empires. Or World of Warships. the usage is low and the temps are low as well.
Before that Update i also had never more than 8% usage on the sim.
Any Ideas ?
I don’t have the Dune expansion, but I’ve also noticed that when the program is loading, that my CPU temps get way higher than they used to. I’ll see 70-75°C, and then once I get into my aircraft they drop to around 50-55°C.
Air-cooled 5800X3D with a pretty aggressive fan profile > 65°C
Not sure if you always get high cpu temps or maybe it’s related to specific areas where you are flying? You might want to scan through the post below and see if it might be similar. This thread is about high cpu utilization over certain areas in Europe which even I have been able to reproduce.

I noticed the usage right away since the update of the sim where the loading screen changed to the dune pictures. Before that the sim was flawless. Since then i have a very high cpu usage. It doesnt matter if i fly over germany or ecuador or thailand . The usage is about 25 to 30 sometimes 40 than drops back to 12 or so. I know its just the indication of the core package… pretty sure one core is running at 100 which results in core package usage of about 24 or so. But i swear a few month ago i had only 8 % usage which was mostly the highest. And this gave me a good cool temp of highest 65°C. But since the temps are at 75 to 85. The ghz throttles down from 4.8ghz to 4.2 which results in a performance loss.
Begotten poet. I have a Aio (corsair elite capellix 360 radiator. I have 10 fans total in my Lian li o11 dynamic XL case.
Like i said. Other games and before the dune expansion update i had no issues. I just want to mention that i neither have the expansion it was just for explanation purposes

I thought maybe something went wrong witb my pc but this isnt the case since i made a complete clean installation of windows and a fresh pristine msfs2020.
It is strange.

I don’t have high CPU usage as such but get occasional, seemingly random CPU spikes that cause a big stutter each time. This started with SU14. For a while it was better but now it’s back. Lower LOD settings lowers the amplitude of the spikes. Anyone else seeing this?
Ok guys in another thread on avsim someone had similar issues with high cpu usage. He had it in a certain region. In his case it was germany. Someone suggested to remove the related world update. Must be WU6 . The guy reported that this step was the solution for him. Later on he reinstalled the WU 6 and still he had no issues. Maybe something was also broken and corrupt as i installed all my WU’s because the installation took hours and hours and was broken up all the time due to connectivity problems (you know how it is with the sim installation) 
When i get home from work i will test that and will report to you guys.

Any news? I have the same Problem, my I9 13900k has normally 15-20% usage, since the beginning of the Year i get 40 and spikes to 70% usage, but only in MSFS, no other Programm causes this high load.
Dune is not installed, has somebody tryed the Think with WU6??
hey there. no news. I still have way too high cpu usage… it was all the time at 4 to 8 percent. now its up to 40 - 50 percent and then it settles to 25 percent. thats why my cpu temp is around 77-87 and thats too hot for me. No solution
try swapping apis
