Hi everybody,
I have a 3 identical screen setup, 2560x1440, 165Hz, I9, RTX3080, latest drivers, DLSS DX12, For some strange reason FS Graphic options increases the amount of render windows by itself. I only need 2 extra render windows, but every FS session seems to add a couple and eats up my FPS.
Thank for suggestions
Yep, I have the same thing here. There is another post within the community about the issue that I added a “me too.” Not sure if Asobo is aware of the issue, guess we could turn in a Zendesk bug to help it along.
Interesting on your FPS going down because of the duplication, I will have to take a closer look at mine.
Is this the thing where you get two “Full Screen” and two “Windowed” entries listed??
I see this two but was unaware they used FPS, if so i hope they can fix it soon
Yes that is the duplicate listing item. Not sure how widespread it is in the community of multi-monitor users.
I filed an official bug report today at zendesk, fingers crossed…
I will do the same at Zendesk. I worked on it today and got up to 6 duplicates. I see a delete (trashcan icon) to the far right on the listed windows, tried that but not sure what it did or did not do, it just messed things up.
Was hoping it would delete the extra windows so I could check for FPS change, no joy with that.
Same issue here with 3 monitor setup. I encountered up to 4 duplicates of window 1 and window 2 each.
If i delete one of the duplicates (doesn’t matter which one) all instances will be deleted.
Due to frequent stuttering and FPS drop with my RTX 3090 i’m afraid that these duplicates will indeed be rendered in the background.
I also have this issue and submitted a bug report.
I have this as well, has there been a workaround discovered? I haven’t found anything. I know exactly when it happens too since my sim will be running very smooth then start stuttering like crazy and I’ll have at least 2 extra render windows, so I close them all and add the ones I want back in, but it keeps randomly doing it. A lot of times trying to delete them will cause a CTD as well. It’s driving me crazy. Why can’t at least one thing work correctly for once?
The multi-window dialog is a mess. It adds multiple entries seemingly randomly, then when you go to delete them, it deletes more than you selected.
For example, I have 2 extra windows set up. Window 1 and Window 2. Each is duplicated at least once, sometimes twice. I go to delete the additional Window 2 entries and it might delete correctly. But then I go to delete another entry, and more gets deleted than I selected. It’s like it has a mind of its own making multi-windows a real headache to set up.
And the bigger problem is each time a window is duplicated, it significantly affects frame rates, while not being obvious about when it happens.
I understand it’s experimental feature, but it has been for a while. This post was started 6 months ago. When will it be fixed properly and not labeled as “experimental” anymore?
While you’re at it, please add some more fine-tuning control the community has been asking for, like an X, Y, Z offset for each Window, for example. If you have a home cockpit setup, or an odd monitor layout, the controls as they exist now are too limited.
Here we are, now in May '23, and it still happens. Is there a fix somewhere I missed?
Nope, nothing has changed. I can’t use multi-window because of this. I have three window views and having it still constantly replicate one, sometimes two times makes it pointless. And with no offset control still, MSFS still isn’t ready for true cockpit setups.
It’s also interesting how when you delete them and re-add windows, the new windows retain the old settings. Something is being cached and not cleared out completely. Probably has something to do with the duplicates if I had to guess.
I also noticed duplicate screens. I am not sure whether this affects the fps though. I have two extra screens and fps is half of what it is with one screen. But I guess this is expected. I didn’t notice fps going down because of the duplicate entries. I also cannot locate the screen anywhere. Looks to me like this is just a glitch in the experimental ui.
Nevertheless I would like this to be fixed ofcourse.
I also have the duplicates but as well as that, when I restart the sim, none of the extra windows are in the correct places - they move to other monitors and it takes a lot of fussing to get them back.
It is May 2024 now…no change yet… c’mon guys…
Same still here, although loss of FPS seems marginal.
