Unwanted symbol on my instrument panel

What’s this and how do I get rid of it?
Cessna 172 on an IFR ILS approach.

It’s the direction assist. If you go into the “co-pilot” assist from the drop down bar, I’m sure you can remove/hide it from there.

Nope. Pesky thing is still in the middle of my glass panel. Have searched a variety of “assist” options and all that are relevant are turned off.

it looks like one of the POI things or such.

Isn’t that part of the new “Locked Mouse Interaction” thing? I think it goes away if you use Legacy Mouse Interaction?

I thought It was a directional thing or POI, I’m sure I pressed something on the assist and it went away. I’ll check it on the the sim tomorrow and check back in with you if I find what I did

Just turn off all assist by setting them to Hard/True to Life. That should make them disappear.

AArrrggghhh. I’ve been closely watching the discussions about the “locked” cockpit interaction system. Thought it might relate to my problem so I tried a couple of suggested fixes. Now neither my mouse nor the sim function properly. Crash city. At least before this things worked properly even though tooltips and symbols were a bit intrusive. Guess I’ll have to do more reading and experimenting. Frustrating.

See indicators will stay if you take off without getting clearance from ATC, if you had previously contacted them for taxi clearance. The marker left behind is the start of the runway you were supposed to hold short at.

Plus any number of other reasons, really.

This might be a long shot, but worth a try. Set your control schemes to default. You know, mouse, keyboard, controller etc. The reason I mention this is that after installing SU5 I noticed that whenever I looked at any of the glass cockpits they would have big white border around them. I couldn’t understand why the game did that. I also found that I couldn’t interact with a lot of the cockpit controls. To fix the controls I had to reset my controller to default and the big white borders stopped appearing too. Maybe you are experiencing a similar type of bug. Like I said, it’s a long shot, but worth a try considering it’s easy to save your current config and revert back to it if default fails to solve the issue.

OK, I’m able to fly again but the pesky symbol is still there. Guess I’ll just have to live with it.

Notice how it’s not even accurate both in the air and once on the ground. Weird. And yes, I did get ATC clearance.

You can turn POI off.

you don’t have to live with it, because you can turn it off in your Assist settings.

I just noticed its not the only source of those indicators. POI, waypoints etc. are one source.

The other appears when hovering over a cockpit interactable. If I hover the mouse over the fuel switch I get this:

However if I offset my view a bit I get this:

The indicator points in the direction of the interactable. My best guess this is another helper for controller users, illustrating the main difference between an absolute input device, and a relative one.

I know were my mouse cursor is.

You can also turn off those tooltips in your General Settings under Accessibility.

True, but the tooltip is the text, not the blue arrow. I’ll try it all the same.

Do you use the taxi ribbon? If so, disable it. That might help.

I use taxi ribbon… with this mod that I made too… And I don’t get the indicator. I don’t think that’s causing it.

That was the first thing I did. No Joy.

Did that too. No Joy.
