Here are a few instructions on how to update MSFS:
Up until now, an update that has been announced has always been available at 5 p.m. CET
First of all: there are 2 ways to start the update:

1. You go to the Microsoft Store at update time, click on the 3 dots in the top right corner and then on Downloads and Updates. Then you let the store look for it. When the download is finished you close the store and start MSFS.

2. You start the flight simulator at the time and follow the instructions.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t stop there.
When the update in the simulator is finished, let it start up to the main menu and finish it again.
Then restart the computer and the MSFS.
Then go to your profile and the content manager.
There for available updates. With update 5 it was again 20GB.

Only then is the update complete. A few free pieces of content can then be found in the marketplace, the World Updates for example.

You should reboot before opening the MS Store, btw… I found just opening it multiple times to see if the 1st update was available didn’t do anything. As soon as I rebooted the PC and opened the MS Store, it was available to d/l.

If you have problems updating when you launch the game, rebooting the PC seems to help that as well.
