Had this problem a few times but this time I can’t shake it. I installed SU6 & then went to library to update files. There were a fair number that needed updating so I started. I downloaded many but I have approximately 44gb left all in Base Content which just will not update & never seem to start downloading! Also when I exit flight Sim 24 it now no longer cleanly exits. The quick launch icon at the bottom of the screen has a line under it & task manager show the program is still running albeit non responsive. HELP??
I don’t know which aircraft you last flew, but if you have any 3rd-party aircraft that wasn’t purchased through the Marketplace, such as freeware the Flybywire A320 try this:
Select that aircraft (FBW A320), choose a departure airport and start the flight. It’s enough to wait until the aircraft appears at the airport. Then end the flight, return to the main menu and try the update again.
I’ll try but can’t honestly see how that would help. Perhaps you could let me into your thinking? The last aircraft I flew was the Asobo H-125 Helicopter.
If the Asobo H-125 Helicopter has an update available, it may not update properly if it was the last aircraft you flew. Please try what I recommended and see if it allows the updates to start.
It seems strange to me, too. The SF50 doesn’t have the tablet in the cockpit, and I’ve already checked for updates—there aren’t any.
Hello, with every new update, you always need to ensure the Community and Community2024 folders are empty before downloading the updates.
I did! They’ve all downloaded now apart from “H125 Airbus Heli” & “Microsoft Helipads Worldwide Scenery”, neither wil start downloading!! H E L P!
This is just not correct. Especially, if you have changed the install point for the packages folder so it is outside the FS install directory.
I suppose if you have addon linker it can’t hurt to disable addons but there is really no regular need to clear the community folder, scenery indexes, or rolling cache when updates are released.
Have you tried disabling them, exiting the sim, restarting, and re-enabling them?
Please confirm if you also had this problem after the SU6 update? Ground textures in the Zurich area are green. Especially the railway tracks are not brown but green. I’m pretty sure it happened after the last update. In fact, I only noticed it in the Zurich area. Of course, I cleared the rolling cache.
Ok. All clear! It turns out that it is because of the Season Enhancement by Bijan Studio app. Requires update to SU6
I have never removed anything from my Community folder and have had no issues with updates.
However, just lately, I often see that FS2024 hasn’t fully closed and, trying to start it again even though the sim is not visible on my monitor, I get a message that it is already running. To solve this I now exit Steam after I have exited MSFS2024. I’m not 100% sure this is a new issue after SU6 but I don’t remember having it in the past. Are others who are having this issue on Steam or MS Store?
Yes, I’ve tried that!
Same issue here too!
I never clear my community folder either …never had any issues with the updates affecting it.
I’m on Steam to, never noticed the sim not fully closing!
It gets worse. The H125 finally installed but the “Microsoft Helipads Worldwide Scenery” download refused to start. I decided to cancel the download, (Which took ages). Unfortunately this action seemed to uninstall many aircraft which were previously installed & reside in the “Base Content” region of my library. Slowly installing steamed stuff again!! NIGHTMARE on a 35Mbps connection.
There’s always a first time for everything; in my case, whenever update issues arise, I resolve them by emptying the “Community” folders, running the update, and then moving the contents back.
It’s simple to do: just create a .bat file to automatically rename the folders and then revert them to their original names.
I haven’t had any update issues since following these suggestions, though everyone should do what they think is best—I was just making a suggestion.
Well, that’s a turn up as all seems to be fine now. I have downloaded a fair few files in “Base Content” & downloads started promptly & installation was flawless. Marketplace & library seem a lot smoother. I think i may have had a corrupt “Microsoft Helipads Worldwide Scenery”. Who knows? As a bonus the sim now shuts down fully!
